Pizzagate, January 6, “moron” Zelensky, and aliens: Fox's Lara Logan goes on a conspiracy theory media tour

Lara Logan, who has been sidelined from Fox News, has been touring other right-wing media swamps and endorsing conspiracy theories. In recent weeks, Logan has invoked Pizzagate, claimed that the January 6 insurrection was “orchestrated just like Charlottesville was orchestrated,” and called President Volodymyr Zelensky a “moron” and a “puppet that was installed by the CIA.”
In complaining about the state of the country, she has twice claimed that she and others are “sitting at the gates of Auschwitz.” She also complained about her situation with Fox News, claiming that “lots of people” at Fox News want her back, but there are “bad people there who have power.”
She has even dipped into the paranormal, twice citing people's belief in astral projection -- the idea that people can leave their bodies to travel to another location -- to conclude that humans are better than “aliens” because “humor” has “never been identified in” aliens.
Logan is the host of the Fox Nation program Lara Logan Has No Agenda. She has been sidelined from appearing on Fox News since she compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele.
When Logan was asked about her status with Fox News during a March 8 appearance on a religious streaming program, she claimed that “there are lots of people there” who want her back and unnamed Fox News people “asked me to just let it blow over.” However she positioned her status as an internal battle, stating that there are “good” people at the network and “there are bad people there who have power and we don't know who's going to win that fight yet.”
Logan also attacked Fox News for its reporting, indicating that she had problems with Fox’s coverage of the Arizona 2020 presidential results (the network famously called the state for President Joe Biden). She also complained about the network’s Ukraine coverage and later said that she’s seeing “people being corralled into a certain direction like they are with Ukraine, where you're only allowed to have one narrative which is Putin bad, Ukraine victim, and it's not true, then that concerns me.” (In reality, Fox News’ main programming has propped up Putin -- to the delight of the Kremlin.)
Logan has been guesting on right-wing podcasts and in fringe media outlets. During those appearances, as previously documented, she has linked President Zelensky to the occult; called COVID-19 vaccines “genocide by government”; and spoken to a QAnon influencer, among other things.
Media Matters reviewed many of Logan’s appearances and found that she has continued burrowing even further into the right-wing conspiracy rabbit hole:
- Logan says that we don’t know “who is actually running Ukraine,” and that Zelensky is “some useful puppet that was installed by the CIA.”
- Logan called Zelensky a “moron” leader “who was obviously selected because he's out there in stilettos and black leather pants doing spoof videos for Dancing with the Stars.”
- Logan claimed that January 6 was a “manufactured event. We know it was orchestrated just like Charlottesville was orchestrated.”
- Logan while forwarding a Democratic donor conspiracy theory: “Remember Pizzagate? Another subject we're not allowed to discuss.”
- Logan claimed that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is “obviously a spy … Did anyone watch the TV series The Americans?”
- Logan compared herself and religious right-wing viewers to people who are “sitting at the gates of Auschwitz right now.”
Logan says that we don’t know “who is actually running Ukraine,” and that Zelensky is “some useful puppet that was installed by the CIA.” Logan appeared on the March 8 edition of His Glory TV’s Take Five, where she dismissed Zelensky as just an actor who isn’t actually in charge of Ukraine. She said: “Who is actually running Ukraine? We don't even know the answer to that.” She added that President Zelensky is just “some guy … some useful puppet that was installed by the CIA” and “our intelligence agencies and our leaders … put that actor Zelensky in power.”
LARA LOGAN: We're financing and arming white supremacists in the Ukrainian military, in a battalion that is part of their National Guard and so on and so on. And by the way, who is actually running Ukraine? We don't even know the answer to that. We got some guy who one minute he's in black stilettos and leather pants and music videos online, and the next minute he's the hero of the hour right on TV, saying like, you know, that basically we all have to bow down at the feet of Zelensky. Someone that, you know, most Americans have absolutely no idea who he is. Some useful puppet that was installed by the CIA.
…
Why don't we talk about the dishonesty of our intelligence agencies and our leaders who don't want to admit that they orchestrated the color revolution in the last Ukrainian election and put that actor Zelensky in power? They put him there. He's one of their puppets. And why does all of this matter? How do you know that all of this matters so much? You know because they impeached Trump over it. When he went after their funding, they couldn't stand it.
Logan called Zelensky a “moron” leader “who was obviously selected because he's out there in stilettos and black leather pants doing spoof videos for Dancing With the Stars.” Logan appeared on the March 13 edition of Real America’s Voice’s Cowboy Logic and ranted about how Zelensky is supposedly a “moron” who was “obviously selected.” She also said that there are “evil, horrible people who want to rule over all of us and enslave us” and that “we're sitting at the gates of Auschwitz” while arguing about “climate change.”
LARA LOGAN: They've got this moron as a leader who is, you know, was an entertainer, who was obviously selected because he's out there in stilettos and black leather pants doing spoof videos for Dancing with the Stars. And now we're all supposed to fawn at the altar of Zelensky, right, when he could be doing any number of things. There's all kinds of, you know, fake moments and heroes. I love how they have the ghost of Kiev, right? Who supposedly killed all these Russians. I mean, for crying in a bucket. Wake up, people. Yes, there is real suffering in Ukraine. There's a real war going on just as there was, you know, there were real issues that were being protested in the wake of George Floyd's death. But they're being exploited by evil, horrible people who want to rule over all of us and enslave us. And if you don't think that's true, you think that's a conspiracy theory: I got no time for you. I got no time for you. We are part of a nightmare. We're sitting at the gates of Auschwitz and we're arguing about whether the, you know, the smoke coming out of the ovens is climate change.
Logan claimed that January 6 was a “manufactured event. We know it was orchestrated just like Charlottesville was orchestrated.” During her appearance on Cowboy Logic, Logan was prompted to speak to people who are being held on charges related to the January 6 insurrection. Logan told them she is “on your side because we all know that January 6 was a manufactured event. We know it was orchestrated just like Charlottesville was orchestrated.” (Conservatives have alleged that both events were “false flags” or government operations.)
LARA LOGAN: I am on your side because we all know that January 6 was a manufactured event. We know it was orchestrated just like Charlottesville was orchestrated, just like Nick Sandmann at the Lincoln Memorial. These are operations. And what they have done is wrong. They are nothing short of evil.
Logan while forwarding a Democratic donor conspiracy theory: “Remember Pizzagate? Another subject we're not allowed to discuss.” During the March 9 edition of the podcast The Scalpel with Dr. Keith Rose, Logan falsely claimed that Media Matters and founder David Brock created and control donations to ActBlue, a Democratic fundraising platform which has been the source of conspiracy theories. She used her conspiracy theory to invoke Pizzagate, the false and violence-linked claim that prominent individuals have trafficked children through a Washington pizzeria.
LARA LOGAN: If you want to run for office as a Democratic candidate, you have to raise all your funds through ActBlue. Why? Because who created ActBlue? David Brock and Media Matters for America. It belongs to them. They are a propaganda organization. And David Brock is a propagandist who, by the way, spent 11 years as the boyfriend of James Alefantis, who owns what? Comet Pizza. Remember Pizzagate? Another subject we're not allowed to discuss. Right? And so look at what they did. Now, if you donate through ActBlue and the organization doesn't claim your money. Look at the fine print. The money reverts to Media Matters for America and they decide where it goes. If you designate -- you've just donated and you don't specify where you want the money to go, they decide where it goes. Every donation that's made, they get a percentage of because they've got to cover their costs and so on and so on and so on. So basically, they found a way to get all the big money because they get, you know, the Nikes and all these corporations that are infiltrated and they get the hundred million dollar donation to Black Lives Matter.
Logan claimed that Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is “obviously a spy … Did anyone watch the TV series The Americans?” Vindman, who was a key witness in the first impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, has been the target of a right-wing media campaign to label him as a spy. From her appearance on Cowboy Logic:
LARA LOGAN: The man is obviously a spy. I mean, for crying in a bucket, people, wake up. Did anyone watch the TV series The Americans? You don't think it's extraordinary that just as we are reading all these fawning profiles about, you know, the amazing Lieutenant Colonel Vindman, who just happens to have come from the Ukraine as a child and was found under a bridge with his twin brother when an American photographer appeared as they were sheltering from the rain and took photographs and then documented all of the significant moments in Lieutenant Colonel Vindman’s life. I mean, for goodness sake, where is counterintelligence?
Logan compared herself and religious right-wing viewers to people who are “sitting at the gates of Auschwitz right now.” Logan appeared on the February 17, 2022, edition of The Victory Channel program FlashPoint, where she complained about the state of the country. Near the conclusion of the program, she was asked what “people of faith” and the program’s viewers should do and responded by comparing herself and viewers to people who are about to enter Auschwitz and then advised them, among other things, to watch movies such as the coronavirus conspiracy theory movie Plandemic.
LARA LOGAN: But understand this: You are sitting at the gates of Auschwitz right now. We are there. We walked the nine miles. We've been marched to our deaths. And there is no going back, right? At this point there is no going back. The choice is whether we go through those gates or fight. And that is the moment where we are in history. I know where I stand, right? It's very, very clear and it's always been clear every day of my life.
