Fox News host Mark Levin will keynote GOP event at Mar-a-Lago despite network’s supposed policy against campaign events

Update: Levin’s response to this piece shows yet again how loosely Fox enforces its supposed policy

Update (2/17/22): During his radio program last night, Levin lashed out at Media Matters for writing about his appearance. He also said: “I did run this by Fox and they said they prefer if I didn't, but it's obviously up to me given the circumstances. And I said, 'Of course I will.'”

Fox News host Mark Levin is set to keynote a Republican fundraiser at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida next month. Levin is doing the event despite his employer’s frequently breached policy that network “talent” can’t do campaign events.

In November 2018, Fox News claimed that it “does not condone any talent participating in campaign events,” and The Washington Post reported in December 2019 that a Fox News “spokeswoman said the network has addressed the issue with its contributors and hosts, as well as third-party agents who book events.”

Despite those statements, numerous Fox News personalities have done campaign events in recent years, including Jeanine Pirro, Larry Kudlow, Tomi Lahren, Dan Bongino, Mike Pompeo, Jason Chaffetz, Trey Gowdy, Newt Gingrich, David Webb, and Gregg Jarrett.

Levin is a right-wing radio talker who also hosts the Fox News weekend program Life, Liberty & Levin. He previously broke the supposed Fox News policy by speaking at a 2019 campaign event for an unsuccessful Republican candidate for the Virginia state Senate. He angrily responded to Media Matters’ reporting by seemingly rebuking the policy, stating that he’ll do campaign events if he wants to and “nobody on this planet is going to stop me. No corporation, no left-wing group, … nobody.”

The Fox News host is making good on his promise next month. Levin is set to keynote a March 18 fundraising event for the Republican Party of Palm Beach County, Florida, at Mar-a-Lago Club. Several Florida Republicans are set to attend the event, including Sen. Rick Scott, Rep. Brian Mast, and Rep. Byron Donalds. The event is sold out.
