During the February 14 edition of The Stew Peters Show, convicted January 6 rioter and current GOP congressional candidate Derrick Evans agreed with conspiracy theorist Stew Peters that “Israel had a whole lot to do with January 6” and that it’s possible “Jews stole the election.”
Before entering the race to become the Republican candidate for West Virginia's 1st Congressional District, Evans, who is a former West Virginia state lawmaker, pleaded guilty to a felony civil disorder charge for storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, and he served a three-month prison sentence for the offense.
The Associated Press reported that during his sentencing hearing Evans claimed he had made a “crucial mistake” when he entered the Capitol building, but that less than a year later, “Evans is portraying himself as a victim of a politically motivated prosecution as he runs to serve in the same building he stormed.”
Peters is a far-right streamer and antisemitic conspiracy theorist who has used his platform to push pro-Hitler and Holocaust-denying propaganda. On his show that streams on Rumble, for instance, Peters and a guest recently fantasized about mounting a violent “insurrection” against the “Jewish-controlled” U.S. government.
Peters also recently called for the execution of celebrity couple Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, and he has repeatedly called for the hanging of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who served as the nation’s top infectious disease expert through the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the deaths of journalists, politicians, and even charity workers.
A number of Republican elected officials have appeared on Peters’ show despite his history of leveling violent threats at his perceived political enemies.
During his February 14 conversation with Evans, Peters baselessly claimed that “Israeli Mossad” agents and “ostensibly Jewish” spies from Ukraine had infiltrated the pro-Trump crowd at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and that corporate media covered up the fact at the behest of Jewish people or Israel.
Then Peters turned to Evans and asked: “So is it kind of over the line for me to draw the conclusion that Israel had a whole lot to do with January 6?”
“No, it’s not,” Evans replied, before adding, “And to your point, look, the people who are covering this up and working tirelessly to cover this up, they’re the ones who stole the election from President Trump and the American people. They're the ones who orchestrated January 6.”
“Are you saying that Jews stole the election?” Peters then asked.
“I think that that's a good question to ask right now,” Evans replied. “I don't know who stole the election, but I think that it's a fair question to ask right now as I think we need to get to the bottom of it.”
