Following the release of a series of embarrassing videos and racist text messages, Spanish-language conservative media personalities have backed the ousted Fox News star Tucker Carlson, downplaying his problematic behind-the-scenes behavior, claiming Fox is attacking Carlson through leaks, and mocking Fox News for struggling without their former star.

Despite Carlson’s abrupt departure from Fox News, reports suggest his $20 million yearly contract with the network does not expire until January 2025. With Carlson’s supporters rallying against Fox and his recent announcement that he will be bringing his show to Twitter, Spanish-language right-wing outlets and pundits are backing the misinformative, misogynistic, and racist pundit as he looks to return to the spotlight before the next presidential election.

Spanish-speaking conservative personalities were often inspired by Fox News’ and Carlson’s normalization of hateful and extreme rhetoric such as the white supremacist “great replacement” theory – which falsely posits that there is an active effort by Democrats to encourage non-white immigrants to come to America to replace white people.

Now, pundits at outlets like Americano Media, a conservative media network angling to become the Fox News of Spanish-speaking America, are taking to social media to defend Tucker Carlson and criticize Fox News.

Claims that Fox News “wants to sink” Carlson with leaked videos

Following Media Matters’ reporting of Carlson’s behind-the-scenes roast of Fox Nation and his Dominion deposition meltdown, Spanish-language right-wing pundits claimed Fox News intentionally attacked Carlson through leaks.

• Rory Branker, a conservative journalist, wrote, “Fox wants to sink Tucker Carlson by leaking videos to Media Matters,” adding, “All they leaked was self-criticism of Fox Nation and their mediocre streaming.”
• Americano Media’s Emmanuel Rondón claimed Fox News and Media Matters “came together to attack Tucker Carlson with leaked videos.”
• Anthony Cabassa, a bilingual conservative journalist, asked if Fox is “just handing  over all this footage in hopes it tarnishes Tucker and his multi-million people audience come back to Fox after seeing this?”

Claims that the Fox leaks make Carlson look like “a normal guy.”

Despite Carlson’s disturbing and creepy behind-the-scenes comments, Spanish-language conservative outlets and pundits downplayed Carlson’s problematic behavior, claiming, “Tucker is a normal guy.”

• John Acquaviva, a conservative YouTuber with over 238,000 subscribers, downplayed Carlson’s problematic behavior and joked, “How much shall we bet that soon the first allegations by women will start coming out saying Tucker Carlson did something inappropriate with them.”
• Giancarlo Sopo, a conservative activist who ran the 2020 Trump campaign's official Spanish-language account, wrote, “BREAKING: Tucker is a normal guy.” 
• The Epoch Times en Español, a Spanish-language Falun Gong-backed publication, shared an article downplaying Carlson’s inappropriate behavior, claiming the leaked images simply “include Carlson joking around with members of his team.”

Mocking Fox for struggling without Tucker Carlson

Spanish-language conservative media personalities also mocked Fox News for struggling without Tucker Carlson, claiming it “ceased to be the most watched channel on TV” and that they “stabbed themselves with a dagger.”

• Emmanuel Rincón, a senior editor for Americano Media, shared Patrick Bet-David’s offer for Tucker Carlson to join Valuetainment, saying, “Fox stabbed their own company with a dagger.”
• Lexit, a conservative organization “helping Latinos exit the liberal left,” shared a meme of Tucker Carlson smiling while standing over Fox News’ grave with their over 233,000 Facebook followers. 
• Voz Media, a Texas-based conservative news start-up that recently acquired the bilingual conservative news site El American, echoed Megyn Kelly’s attacks against Fox News and shared an article stating Fox “continues to search for Tucker Carlson's replacement” and “tries its luck with Kayleigh McEnany.”
• La Derecha Diario, a popular Spanish-language conservative publication that often shared subtitled clips of Carlson’s Fox News programming, claimed, “Fox News ceased to be the most-watched channel on TV in the United States after the dismissal of Tucker Carlson.”
