With Mark Zuckerberg giving an interview to Fox News, it is clear that Facebook is actively biased in favor of conservatives

Last night, Fox News announced that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will sit for an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Dana Perino. The announcement comes after reports that Zuckerberg has been secretly meeting with Republican politicians, white nationalists like Tucker Carlson, and other right-wing media figures.

In reaction to the announcement, Angelo Carusone, President of Media Matters, issued the following statement:

Mark Zuckerberg’s decision to eschew interviews with actual news organizations and instead run to Fox News for an exclusive interview is yet another instance of Facebook’s CEO acting like a fully indoctrinated conservative puppet and a signal that Facebook is ready to capitulate to white nationalists and right-wing bigots.

Facebook’s ‘pledge’ to tackle fake news in the wake of the 2016 election was a farce. The social media giant is now openly accepting and promoting baldfaced lies from political ads, essentially opening the floodgates so its users are left to drown in a sea of misinformation.

Make no mistake: There is not, nor has there ever been, a legitimate reason to believe Facebook has an anti-conservative bias. Study after study has refuted the claims of such bias , and Facebook’s own right-wing-led internal audit failed to produce any substantive evidence that such a bias exists.

What is becoming increasingly clear based on Facebook’s repeated capitulation to conservatives’ lies, as well as Zuckerberg’s aggressive comments about Democrats like Elizabeth Warren, is that the social media platform is actively biased in favor of conservatives.

This can be seen in the way Zuckerberg cozies up to white nationalists and in Facebook’s policies that allow conservatives to spread misinformation on its platform with impunity.

“Zuckerberg’s continued lack of judgment and inability to stand up to conservative pundits, right-wing bigots, white nationalists, and extremists should terrify everyone -- including Facebook’s users, employees, shareholders, and, frankly, all American voters.
