Republican Chris Bish, a congressional candidate who lost her last election by a little more than 46 percentage points, says that Fox Nation host Lara Logan is scheduled to appear at a fundraiser for her next month. Fox News has claimed that it does not condone network “talent” participating in campaign events.
Logan is a former CBS News correspondent who hosts the show Lara Logan Has No Agenda for the Fox News streaming platform Fox Nation. Her Fox biography claims that she “utilizes her journalistic talents to delve into controversial issues head on and without bias, all in order to discover the truth.” She also appears on Fox News programming throughout the day.
Bish is running again for Congress in California's 6th Congressional District. In 2020, incumbent Democratic Rep. Doris Matsui defeated her 73.3% to 26.7%.
The Republican candidate's website states that Logan will appear as a “guest speaker” at a July 1 fundraiser for her. Right-wing personalities including Anthony Shaffer and Oliver North, who has hosted a show for Fox News, are also set to appear at the event. Bish is selling tickets to it, which range from $100 to $1,000, on her campaign website. A notice includes language stating, “Proceeds to benefit Chris Bish for Congress.”
Fox News stated in 2018 that it “does not condone any talent participating in campaign events,” but the network has inconsistently enforced its purported policy over the years. The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi reported in December 2019 that “a spokeswoman said the network has addressed the issue with its contributors and hosts, as well as third-party agents who book events.”
