PERSON 1: Gas prices are extreme, man. I thought they things — I don't know what's going on.

...

PERSON 2: Seems like it went double in the past month or two.

PERSON 3: It's painful. It's painful. You know?

PERSON 4: Just painful.

DAN SNYDER (REPORTER): Pain at the pump for drivers as gas prices spike once again.

PERSON 3: Look at the $70 to fill it up. $70.

SNYDER: According to AAA, a gallon of gas is up 30 cents in just the last week in the Delaware Valley.

JANA TILDWELL (AAA SPOKESPERSON): We haven't seen prices like this in four years, and, of course, this is the highest price we've seen so far this year.

SNYDER: Experts point to seemingly stalled talks between The US and Iran and The US blockade of the Strait Of Hormuz that sent oil prices back over a $100 a barrel this week.

A White House official confirmed to CBS News Philadelphia that President Trump and top cabinet officials met with oil executives Tuesday. Among the topics per that White House official, steps the administration could take to continue the blockade for months if need be and ways to minimize the impact on Americans, but that impact is already being felt.

PERSON 2: We're all feeling the pinch around here.

PERSON 5: I'm working to pay the gas pretty much at this time. It's killing me.

SNYDER: Some we talked with are trying to find every way they can to save, including filling up with a lesser fuel grade.

PERSON 3:  I used to use plus and now I'm on regular.

PERSON 5: I'm paying $5. And I'm — you're you're supposed to put 93 in to save a little bit of money even though it's not good for my car.

SNYDER: But for most, they just have to push through.

PERSON 3: I pray about it, that I got enough to put in there and that I can keep pushing. That's all I can do.

SNYDER: And as for how long these high prices will stick around?

TILDWELL: There are so many variables, so many factors at play here. It really is impossible to say how high will prices go.
