Watch Fox Co-Hosts Spar Over Fox News' New Year's Eve “Trump Show”

Fox Co-Host Greg Gutfeld: GOP Candidates Didn't Want To Come On Fox Because “It Was The Trump Show”

Fox News co-hosts on The Five argued about whether Donald Trump's prominent appearance on the network's New Year's Eve broadcast was problematic after noting that several other GOP candidates failed to come on the network for longer segments. Co-hosts Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino explained that other candidates were dissuaded from making longer appearances on the network because it was essentially “the Trump show.” In fact, Trump has been granted far more airtime on Fox News than any other candidate during the 2015 primary season, with more than double the amount of airtime as the next GOP candidate. From the January 4 edition of Fox News' The Five:

ERIC BOLLING (CO-HOST): Kimberly's making a very good point. On the New Year's Eve show, we put it out to every single candidate. Do you want to come on, you can be live and talk about issues. You can talk about New Year's Eve or talk about whatever. Or if you want to send something in, go ahead and send something in. Now, three people showed up live. Fine. A few handfuls sent something in. Ted Cruz did a very long thing. He told a story, he had a minute and a half, it was engaging. Jeb, who really needs this time right now, sent in a five-second hey, Happy New Year, everyone. See you later.

DANA PERINO (CO-HOST): But the whole show was built around the Trump interview, and I think that if you're a candidate, you think, what chance do I have to even be able to have -- make an impact if the whole thing is going to be about Donald Trump?

GREG GUTFELD (CO-HOST): It's like being Potsie on “Happy Days.” It was the Trump show. Let's face it. You're being disingenuous. It was the Trump show.

KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE (CO-HOST): It wasn't the Trump show, with all due respect. We hosted it. It was awesome. And the people who came on were very, very good. I don't think it was the Trump show.

GREG GUTFELD: I think you did a great job Kimberly. You did a very good job on the Trump show.
