Pro-choice advocates talk about the misinformation behind Louisiana's anti-abortion law during Supreme Court rally

The law is propped up by right-wing media lies about abortion safety

On March 4, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in June Medical Services v. Russo, a case centered on a Louisiana law requiring abortion providers to have admitting privileges at local hospitals.

The Louisiana law is based on right-wing media misinformation about the safety of abortion. In reality, abortion is extremely safe, and abortion opponents push laws requiring admitting privileges in an attempt to restrict or end abortion access in a state. Leading medical organizations in the country say admitting privileges laws are not medically necessary for safe and effective care. Louisiana will likely end up with only one clinic left in the state if the Supreme Court upholds the law. A decision on the case is expected in June.
