ROB SCHMITT (HOST): Mercedes, young women in this country have become a very scary demographic. 84% of young women in New York voted for Mamdani last night. They voted to make the city dramatically less safe for themselves.

MERCEDES SCHLAPP (GUEST): Yeah, you're talking about not only young women, but we saw the Latino vote also go towards Mamdani, over 50%. I mean, these are two big areas that we know that Donald Trump made a lot of — basically really developed more of that support of that coalition with the presidential election.

Obviously in cities across the country, but I would say New York City, those are two groups that went towards Mamdani, which I find it to be so concerning. But it's a wake up call, I think, for the MAGA voters, for conservatives, conservative leaders, to hone in on courting the women vote, on courting the Latino vote, the Black vote. The Asian vote also went for Mamdani.

Look, there's a reality here. We have to understand what's underneath, what his message is. When you have the Pakistani foreign minister coming out and saying Mamdani's race, this victory is a proud moment for the progressive movement. The mere fact is that we're seeing socialism not only creep into America, but become a staple of America and become the leading component of the Democrat Party, us conservatives, us Republicans, us freedom fighters — we got to unite now and wake up and fight even harder as we're going into these midterm elections.
