Newsmax attacks Fox as anti-Trump, pro-trans in Facebook and Instagram ads

Newsmax is running ads on Facebook and Instagram that attack Fox News for being supposedly anti-Trump and pro-trans. Newsmax’s criticisms are a continuation of the network’s feud with its like-minded rival.

Newsmax has attempted to be an even more conservative alternative to Fox News, especially after former President Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election. The network has hired many of Fox News’ castaways, including several of whom left in disgrace.

Newsmax has hit a rough patch, as it was dumped by DirecTV this week.

As cable news begins gearing up for the 2024 primary, which already features candidate Trump, Newsmax has continued its attacks against Fox News by running ads on Meta’s Facebook and Instagram that go after the network. (Facebook advertising is a significant part of Newsmax’s publicity strategy.)

“Pres. Trump speaks out about Fox News and Newsmax! This will SHOCK you.”

In an ad that started running in variations beginning on December 30, Newsmax embeds a video of Trump stating that he “wouldn't say Fox has been exactly perfect” and there’s “been a big difference at Fox between now and what it was 4 years ago.” He went on to praise Newsmax, labeling them as “really good.”

“Fox News move to ban Trump, reduce his power.”

In an ad that started running on January 5, Newsmax promotes a report from last summer by the New York Times which said that Fox News has been ignoring the former president.

“Fox News shocked it audience with this story!”

In June, Fox News ran an uncharacteristically positive special that featured a transgender boy and his family. (Fox News is venomously anti-trans.) Anti-LGBTQ commentators responded by attacking the network. Newsmax promotes the criticism of Fox News in an ad that started running on December 30:

Newsmax has also run advertising attacking Fox News over its coverage of Russia, including highlighting the Kremlin's praise of the network.
