National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent compared unarmed shooting victims Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown to “mass shooters and criminal thugs” as he railed against “destructive liberal feelgood policies.”

While promoting a new book by the father of a Parkland victim in a September 28 Facebook post, Nugent wrote that it exposes the “cultural suicide of political correctness and the self-inflicted scourge of destructive liberal feelgood policies,” saying the “same moral blindness ... gave us Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and all the mass shooters and criminal thugs amongst us.”

Martin, 17, was unarmed when he was gunned down in Florida in February 2012 by a neighborhood watch volunteer. Brown, 18, was also unarmed when a police officer shot him at least six times in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014.

Nugent previously called Martin a “dope smoking, racist gangsta wannabe” who was “responsible for his bad decisions and standard modus operendi of always taking the violent route” in a column for the conservative news website Rare. After news reports noted that former Attorney General Eric Holder said the Department of Justice would continue an investigation into Martin’s shooting, Nugent attacked him on Twitter, calling him “soulless” and saying he is “a blackpanther supporting blacks attacking nonblacks.”

The NRA board member later doubled down on his attacks, calling Martin an “enraged black man-child” and urging Martin’s killer to sue the teenager’s parents for “emotional pain and suffering.”  

Referring to Brown’s death, Nugent previously told parents to not “let your kids growup to be thugs who think they can steal, assault & attack cops as a way of life & badge of black (dis)honor.” He also tweeted that the officer who shot the unarmed teenager “did good” and that “justice is served.”
