On the June 28 broadcast of The Mike Rosen Show, Rosen said that anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan is “an emotionally distraught, foolish airhead.” Rosen added, “And that's not an ad hominem attack.” He explained, “If you've listened to her speak, it's an accurate, clinical appraisal.” Rosen repeated his statement on Sheehan in his June 30 Rocky Mountain News column.
From the June 28 broadcast of KOA's The Mike Rosen Show:
ROSEN: Look at some of the people who have been described as having been Swift Boated. Cindy Sheehan, for one. She hasn't been Swift Boated. She's an emotionally distraught, foolish airhead. And that's not an ad hominem attack by me. If you've listened to her speak, it's an accurate, clinical appraisal. That's what she is. And have you heard the names she's called the president? Talk about ad hominem. She's exploited her son Casey's death, who died in service to his country, to advance her own obsessive cause. She has no standing to speak for her son Casey, or for any other parent who's lost a son or daughter in Iraq and who may disagree with her. And many do. Cindy Sheehan has entered into political combat and has been held to account for her words and actions. It's not Swift Boating.
From Rosen's June 30 Rocky Mountain News column:
ROSEN: Today, “swiftboating,” like McCarthyism, has come to be used by leftists as a facile antidote to dodge or dismiss legitimate criticism which they condescendingly characterize as merely an ad hominem attack, nothing more than name-calling or smearing. But this charade just doesn't hold up. Cindy Sheehan hasn't been “swiftboated.” She's an emotionally distraught, foolish airhead. And that's not an ad hominen [sic] attack. If you've listened to her speak, it's an accurate, clinical appraisal.
