Media Matters announces departure of David Brock

Angelo Carusone named new Chairman

Media Matters for America and Media Matters Action Network on November 16 announced that their Boards of Directors have named Angelo Carusone as Chairman. Carusone fills the board positions previously held by David Brock who founded Media Matters for America in 2004 and is leaving both organizations effective immediately.

Brock first announced via Twitter that he was leaving the organization, as well as American Bridge, which he co-founded.

Media Matters would not exist without David Brock’s vision and know-how. We appreciate his intuition and laying the groundwork for the organization nearly twenty years ago as well as his guidance as Media Matters has expanded and increased its mission effectiveness over the years. We thank David for his efforts and wish him success as he begins a new chapter.

In 2004, David Brock founded Media Matters for America following the publication of Blinded by the Right: The Conscience of an Ex-Conservative, a 2002 New York Times best-selling political memoir, in which he chronicled his years as a conservative media insider.
