Oh brother. Couric's “sickness”? Trying to pronounce Wasilla correctly

Talk about dumb and dumber. Is there any non-story right-wing bloggers won't mindlessly peddle. Even if it means making up things about what appears right on a video that they're hyping.

Today's painful-to-watch edition revolves around some raw CBS News footage taken on the day Sarah Palin was tapped as Sen. John McCain's running mate. In the choppy and rather chaotic video (i.e. a behind-the-scenes peek at live TV), Couric is seen practicing her lines for an upcoming report about the then-unknown Palin. (Lines that, by the way, read like they were written by the McCain camp.)

Among the highlights, or at least the ones breathlessly hyped by nutty bloggers who insists the unvarnished video captured Couric's liberal “sickness,” was that at one point Couric goes back and forth with her producers about the pronunciation of Wasilla. And at another point Couric marvels at the unusual names of Palin's kids, Trig and Track.

The whole thing is just wildly uneventful and pedestrian. Unless you're a right-wing blogger and you can't sleep at night knowing the evil, liberal media are ruining America (not to mention Palin's polling numbers!), in which case you launch long, incoherent screeds built around Zzzzz footage of Katie Couric doing her job.

And oh yeah, you make stuff up about what's actually on the tape.
