Newest CIR/Annenberg School Joint Project Focuses on California Hunger

The Center for Investigative Reporting's California Watch has teamed up with the USC Annenberg School for Journalism and Communication to create a multi-media series focused on hunger in California.

“Hunger in the Golden State” debuts on March 19 in newspapers, on radio stations and across other media platforms and will run for three weeks in various parts, according to an announcement.

“Over six months, Annenberg journalism graduate students interviewed dozens of state and local-level food bank officials as well as the Californians who struggle with food shortages every day,” the announcement stated. “The reporting unearthed new numbers that show hunger is rising at an unprecedented rate in California and nationwide and affects millions - including those in affluent areas - but is invisible to many.”
