Conservative misinformation is news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda. This misinformation distorts the public dialogue on important issues and obscures the truth.

Can I link to your audio and video clips on my website or blog?

We embed our video and audio clips into our item pages to encourage readers to link to our items rather than just our clips. Linking to the items gives readers the full context of the incident in question. Please be sure to link to the full article, not merely the video or audio clip.

Can I excerpt your items on my website or blog?

Media Matters encourages you to tell your friends, family, and others about the problem of conservative misinformation in the media. If you find content that you wish to share with others, we recommend you link to it or use the “email this page” element found on every page. We discourage copying and pasting sections of our articles because key information may inadvertently be cut, and wholesale copying of articles will still remove important supporting content and related items.

How do I get your newsletter?

Sign up for our newsletters by creating an account. The account also allows you access to our discussion boards. We have several different newsletters to choose from.

I registered for an account, but I didn't get the confirmation email. Help!

Sometimes when I log on, the page says I am logged on as another user. Why?

Occasionally when logging on, you will receive a cached version of the login page that shows you to be signed in as someone else. Please note that you are not actually logged on as this person, so you do not need to worry about posting as someone else or vice versa. This is a known bug that we are working to resolve. You can verify that you are not actually logged on as someone else by going to any other page on our website that shows login information, such as a discussion page for an item; it will show that you are logged on with the proper credentials.

Do you accept tips about conservative misinformation in the media? How do I submit one?

Tips are central to Media Matters' mission. If you've seen conservative misinformation and you want to let us know about it, fill out this form. Please be as specific as possible about what was said, who said it, when it was said, and where (name the show, publication, website, etc.).

Discussion board questions

Why can't I post on your site?

Users must register to post on mediamatters.org. Fill out this form and respond to the confirmation email that you receive. Once your account is verified, you'll be able to choose a username, post in our forums, and manage your email newsletter subscriptions. If you have trouble with the registration process, please contact us.

When I post in the forums, my username looks like gibberish. Why?

We assign temporary handles to users who do not choose one when they create an account. Drop us a line to let us know what you'd like your username to be, and we'll update your account. Please include the email address you used to create the account.
