It took nearly two months, but Glenn Beck has made good on his promise to donate some of the proceeds of his December appearances in Wilmington, Ohio to local charities who are helping the struggling community deal with 15 percent unemployment.

If you'll recall, Beck manufactured something of a sympathy tour back in December when he brought his nationally syndicated radio show and Fox News TV show to Wilmington and urged his followers to flock to the town to support local businesses. (His producers hoped 20,000 Beck followers would show up in the town, but only about 2,000 did.)

As is typical with Beck's incessant self-promotion, the journey to Wilmington seemed to be more about him than about the people he kept telling us he was going to help. But at least Beck was going to shower the town's charities with donations from the money he made off pricey ticket sales, right?

From the Wilmington News Journal [emphasis added]:

Glenn Beck and his team of producers will donate $44,611 to five Clinton County organizations, following Beck's December 2010 visit to the area.

In terms of context, Beck earned $32 million last year.
