Texts from Fox personalities were presented as evidence in January 6 hearing. Fox isn't covering it

Fox News did not broadcast the first public hearing of the House January 6 select committee, in which text messages from Fox personalities were read. Since the hearing, they have not mentioned the text messages. As texts from Fox’s star talent were read into the record as evidence last night, the Fox audience was instead bombarded with conspiracy theories and lies spinning away the seriousness of the insurrection.  

During the hearing, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) read texts between Fox host Sean Hannity and then-Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany (who is now a Fox News contributor). 

The text exchange confirmed that both parties believed that “stolen election talk” should be stopped, and that impeachment over the insurrection was a real possibility.

REP. LIZ CHENEY (R-WY): But most emblematic of those days is this exchange of texts between Sean Hannity and former President Trump's Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. Sean Hannity wrote, in part, “Key now, no more crazy people, no more stolen election talk. Yes, impeachment and 25th amendment are real. Many people will quit.” Ms. McEnany responded in part, “Love that, that's the playbook.”

The White House staff knew that President Trump was willing to entertain and use conspiracy theories to achieve his ends. They knew he had to be cut off from all those who had encouraged him. They knew that President Donald Trump was too dangerous to be left alone, at least until he left office on January 20th, these are important facts for Congress and the American people to understand fully.

The Trump White House and high-profile Fox News hosts were complicit in allowing “stolen election talk” and election fraud conspiracy theories to spread across the country, ultimately leading to the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
