Fox anchor ignores GOP's Florida gubernatorial candidate using racist code words about Black Democratic nominee

Ron DeSantis calls Andrew Gillum “articulate” and says voting for him would be a vote to “monkey this up,” and Sandra Smith has no reaction

From the August 29 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom:

SANDRA SMITH (ANCHOR): How do you plan to beat [Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum]?

REP. RON DESANTIS (R-FL): Well look, this is -- Florida elections are always competitive. This is a guy who, although he is much too liberal for Florida, I think he's got huge problems with how he's governed Tallahassee. He is an articulate spokesman for those far-left views, and he's a charismatic candidate. I watched those Democrat debates and none of that was my cup of tea but he performed better than the other people there. So we've got to work hard to make sure that we continue Florida going in a good direction. Let's build off the success we've had on Governor [Rick] Scott. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases, and bankrupting the state. That is not going to work, that's not going to be good for Florida. So I'm going to fight for what I believe in, because I think I'm the guy who can really lead Florida in a good direction.

SMITH: Gillum had a strong come from behind win. To what do you attribute the momentum that he suddenly saw?
