STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): You know, the president said yesterday to Sean Hannity he didn't want to freak people out.

But that's what leaders do. They try -- in times of adversity, you try to keep people calm so they can get up in the morning and do their jobs and things like that. But, nonetheless, you know, people in the briefing room were suggesting that President Trump was negligent, he should have alerted people, and lives would have been saved; however, you know, as President Trump says, I was trying to keep people calm.

Look at the tweet that President Obama put out on March 4th. He said "Protect yourself and your community from coronavirus with common sense precautions: wash your hands, stay home when sick and listen to the @CDCgov and local [healthcare] authorities. Save the masks for health care workers. Let's stay calm, listen to the experts, and follow the science."

When he is talking about "stay calm," remember, at the time, you mentioned the masks, because they didn't have enough medical masks for everybody. People would have freaked out if they thought "Oh, I have got to have a mask." Just remember what happened with toilet paper!
