GRANT STINCHFIELD (HOST): I don’t think it’s any secret that the shift is on now to be full-on focus on confiscation. You mentioned during Barack Obama years and before, the Democrats were always anti-gun. But never to the level where they would openly admit about confiscation and the repeal of the Second Amendment. You just heard a senator from Illinois who said well maybe we just need to go out and confiscate all the firearms. The feelings has changed among them, they’re now open about their ultimate goals.
JOYCE MALCOM: Well it’s interesting that the two states that had representatives and senators come up with this proposal were Connecticut and Maryland, who have some of the strictest gun control laws. And Connecticut and New Jersey and I think Maryland too have tried to confiscate semi-automatics and no-one has handed them in. And the police have simply said that it would be suicide for them to go and try to get them. They don't want to have to enforce something like that.
STINCHFIELD: Yeah. I don’t think anybody does and I think what America was built on, one of the fundamental tenets of why the Second Amendment is in place was to stand up to a tyrannical government. Those on the left would think, "Oh, you’re crazy, that was a different time, we could never go down that road." But history has shown that countries can change very, very quickly to go down that road and I am in full belief that our Founding Fathers put the Second Amendment in there to make sure that we could stand up to a tyrannical government if it ever got to that point.
