RICHARD GOODSTEIN (FORMER CLINTON ADVISER): After the report comes out, [the White House] should have said here's how we're going to stop it. And instead they're just thumping their chest about, "oh aren't we great." No, the Russians -- Dick Cheney said -- it was an act of war by attacking our elections.
TUCKER CARLSON (HOST): I think that's a very silly characterization with all respect to Vice President Cheney --
GOODSTEIN: Well take it up with him next time you talk with him.
CARLSON: -- and everyone else who said that. I just don't agree with it. But really quick in one sentence, the Russia investigations continue is what you're saying.
GOODSTEIN: Because we don't know exactly who did what, why, and when, and how to stop it from happening in 2020.
CARLSON: OK, OK, OK. It continues. It continues.
GOODSTEIN: And you think it's a joke, most people don't.
CARLSON: Not only do I think it's a joke, I think it's a sad joke, I think it's hurt the country, I think it will cause the Democrats to lose in 2020. We'll see.
GOODSTEIN: Well, that might happen, but what hurt the country was what the Russians did.
CARLSON: Uh-huh. Yeah. I don't think it really hurt the country, actually. I really don't. I think it's a total lie. I think we've over --
GOODSTEIN: Our intelligence agencies --
CARLSON: You know what, our -- no they didn't, and I don't -- it didn't hurt the country, actually. It's like one of these lies we all have to go along with. What's hurting the country is what China is doing, what our own tech companies are doing, what the opioid crisis is doing.
GOODSTEIN: There are problems --
CARLSON: Russia did not hurt the country by comparison. It's just a lie.
GOODSTEIN: Mueller found that the Russians did what we --
CARLSON: Yeah, whatever, the Russians.
GOODSTEIN: And if Trump's going to buy into what Mueller said, is he going to buy into that? Or is he going to keep siding us with Putin?
CARLSON: No, I don't buy into any of it. That's my position.
