MSNBC's First Look highlights how Fox News exploited the migrant caravan in the lead-up to the midterms, then immediately forgot about it

Ayman Mohyeldin: “While Fox News spent more than 33 hours discussing the caravan through Election Day, the network didn't focus on it at all the day after the midterms, and it has spent less than five minutes on the subject the day after that”

AYMAN MOHYELDIN (CO-HOST): During the run-up to the midterm elections, President Trump repeatedly brought up the migrant caravan coming from South America, labeling, quote, “an invasion” and ordering thousands of U.S. troops to guard the border. Now, despite that sense of urgency, Trump hasn't tweeted about the caravan since Halloween and has only talked about it once in public since the midterms when he responded to a question during last week's news conference.

And, as the AP shows, while Fox News spent more than 33 hours discussing the caravan through Election Day, the network didn't focus on it at all the day after the midterms, and it has spent less than five minutes on the subject the day after that.

Four White House officials and outside advisers all tell the Associated Press that inside the West Wing, the belief is that the caravan was a useful midterm messaging tool. That was the centerpiece of an eleventh hour, pre-election strategy. And now that the election is over, Trump's attention has turned elsewhere.
