ANDREW KLAVAN (HOST): And the one that I think bothers me the most is using Jesus to make these cases. And I don't want to offend my Catholic friends and listeners. I consider myself a Catholic, but not a Roman Catholic, but the pope is is out of line here. He's just wrong. I mean, I'm sorry.

He he weighed in on this.

...

He says I am following with deep concern what is happening in the Middle East and in Iran during this tumultuous time. Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats nor through the use of weapons which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue. And he followed it with this video.

...

KLAVAN: So,the problem with all this is that it's girly nonsense, basically. It's just not true. You know, I'm sorry. It's just not true. Sometimes stability and peace are achieved through mutual threats and the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death. And reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue are useless when you're dealing with crazy people. I mean, this is the thing about war. War is bad. It is always bad. You don't fight it because you like it. You fight it because you have to. There may have been a time when Achilles was a warrior, when people were fighting with swords where there was a certain athletic glory to it. Now there's certainly a glory and the courage these people show and in the prowess they have with their weapons and in the amazing technology behind the weapons. I suppose there's some glory there, but war is bad. You know? I do not want our young people dying in these wars. I get it. So we're not fighting it for fun, Mr. Pope. You know? Your holiness. That's not why we're doing it.

Now I'm not a theologian, and I'm not even a pious poser like Tucker Carlson who who'll say things like, oh, I would never kill a 14 year-old who was spraying my face with machine gun fire. That would be wrong. You know, it's just posing. These things are things that have to be. You know? Not every war has to be. Some wars could have been avoided, and that's a terrible thing. And that's why the president is taking a lot on his shoulders when he says it's time to go. But still, there are wars that must be fought.
