Tucker Carlson Hosted Anti-Muslim Columnist Who Has Called For Gunships To Stop Refugees

Trump Has Praised Katie Hopkins’ Columns

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson hosted UK Daily Mail columnist Katie Hopkins who wrote a column allegedly detailing the many women in Sweden who fear being assaulted by immigrants. Hopkins’ writing and tweets exemplify hate-mongering anti-Muslim bigotry and in the past she has called for the murder of refugees and referred to them as “cockroaches.”

Tucker Carlson Hosted Katie Hopkins To Discuss A Column She Wrote Claiming Women Are Afraid Of Being Assaulted By Immigrants In Sweden

Katie Hopkins: Sweden Is “Where Females Fear To Tread.” Katie Hopkins wrote about an alleged outbreak of violence in Sweden caused by refugees, claiming that “terrified women have vanished from the streets and a conspiracy of silence and self-censorship on immigration buries the truth.” Her inflammatory article references the non-existent Swedish “no-go zones” and used anonymous anecdotes to back up her claims of escalating violence. From the February 28 article:

I didn't come to Sweden for the riots. Or because of Trump. In fact, I was supposed to be here in December — before airline strikes stood in my way.

I came because I was asked. Repeatedly.

Swedish women reaching out by email, by letter, to quietly show me what has become of their country.

Dads writing that they were worried for their daughters, tweeting that Sweden is not the place people imagine it to be, that young girls are scared to go out at night.

A news feed filled with reports of the rape and assault of Sweden’s young women, some inexplicably streamed live on Facebook by the gang as they attacked.

Other reports filed quietly away in a box marked unmentionable: the rape of a 14-year-old child by an 'unaccompanied minor' immigrant who later bragged he was 45.

[...]

Fuelled by the oxygen of publicity, they performed here last week in Rinkeby, nicknamed 'Little Mogadishu': looting, rioting, burning out cars.

While liberals countered with accusations of fake news, the right highlighted the chaos caused in this town where 90% of Rinkeby residents are foreign, mostly recently arrived.

Rape statistics were shared and widely interpreted: either Stockholm was 'the rape capital of Europe', or the increase in sexual assaults was a mere statistical anomaly and look, if you turn the graph on its side you will see the numbers are actually falling.

But in a world of polarised news, there still have to be some truths waiting to be told. Even if they are only observations from a single white female with no security and suffering protestor fatigue.

And I've found it all here in plain sight for anyone to see or hear – if they’re listening. If they can. [Daily Mail, 2/28/17]

Carlson: “You’re Saying That Swedish Women Are Afraid To Go Outside?” Tucker Carlson hosted Hopkins on his show to discuss her Daily Mail column and the alleged violence in Sweden. Hopkins claimed Sweden is “a really frightening place for women” and that “they are terrified of the crime, they’re terrified of the gangs.” Carlson claimed “the irony of course is that Sweden is the original feminist success story” but that now “Swedish women are afraid to go outside.” From the March 2 edition of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight:

KATIE HOPKINS: When I rushed there to find out what had gone on, I was told well, why politicize this, journalists are blamed you know? Why make this a political thing? Why can't it just be a hand grenade in a bin outside a mosque? And I kind of felt like who is a mad one here, me are you? And then speaking to the women in particular, there’s a much quieter story that is not being told, which is that women are frightened to go out. When I went to Rinkeby in the evening, I was the only female, certainly the only white female. And when I spoke to the ladies It’s because they are terrified of the crime, they’re terrified of the gangs and one particular lady I spoke to, she runs home at night because she is fearful of all the men that gather at night under the bridge where she lives so they’re kept indoors. It’s a really frightening place for women particularly.

TUCKER CARLSON (HOST): Well I mean the irony of course is that Sweden is the original feminist success story. Its own government describes it that way, as the first truly feminist country and yet you’re saying that Swedish women are afraid to go outside?

[...]

HOPKINS: The lady, let’s call her Lucy, that is too scared to go out of her apartment, that was broken into last week and she had her car torched, she said she was frightened to have her picture taken because of the feminists. Because if she spoke out she would be labeled a racist and they would hunt her down. So the feminists are now working against the women of Sweden and they call them the extremists now, feminists are the new extremists in Sweden and they are part of the problem, part of the mafia that it is silencing the problem that Trump thankfully spoke out about.

CARLSON: It is not so different here. Our media, as you know, worked feverishly to downplay any reports that there might be a problem in Sweden. They are dishonest and politically motivated so that wasn’t surprising. What is surprising is how many Swedes are apparently afraid to say what they really think about what is happening there. Why is that?

HOPKINS: Absolutely, there is this absolute belief, eight years of liberal politicians. There is an absolute belief that Sweden is utopia, and that’s the only message you can send. There is absolutely mandatory belief in multiculturalism and there is an absolute reluctance to understand that when these individuals leave Eritrea, Somalia, Afghanistan, they don’t just arrive in Sweden and miraculously join the multicultural dream. No. They bring every war, every fight, every hostility with them. [Fox News, Tucker Carlson Tonight, 3/2/17]

Hopkins Called Refugees “Cockroaches” And Celebrated The Death Of Hundreds Of Refugees

Katie Hopkins Claimed “Migrants Are Like Cockroaches” And Suggested Using “Gunships To Stop Migrants.” In a now-deleted article for The Sun, Katie Hopkins railed against the influx of refugees to Europe shortly after hundreds died when a boat capsized off Libya, declaring “I don’t care. Show me pictures of coffins, show me bodies floating in water,” comparing migrants to “cockroaches.” She suggested “it’s time to get Australian. Bring on the gunships, force migrants back to their shores and burn the boats.”

[Huffington Post, 4/18/15]

Hopkins’ Inflammatory Article Caused Police Investigations And Condemnation From the UN High Commissioner For Human Rights. Following the article, Hopkins was “questioned by police over allegations she incited racial hatred.” The article “prompted the UN high commissioner for human rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, to denounce Hopkins for using racist language and comparing her comments to pro-genocide propaganda.” [Telegraph, 8/5/15]

Hopkins: Refugees “Are Reproducing At Twice The Rate Of Rabbits On a Hot Spring Day.” Hopkins tweeted the rabbits comparison as she linked to an article for the Daily Mail, where she added that “our borders are flung wide open [and] we have no clue how many people are actually living in our country illegally”:

Hopkins: “Shall I Just Buy A Burka And Get It Over With?” Hopkins alleged that “displaced people” who were “so angered by their miserable migrant lives … decided to take it out on the women of Cologne.” She claimed that “white women are nothing to some Islamic and Arabic men” claiming “they see us as white trash.” She described the migrants as “a cultural time-bomb” and asked “shall I just buy a burka and get it over with?” From the January 7, 2016, article:

The moment when displaced people became so angered by their miserable migrant lives, they decided to take it out on the women of Cologne.

[...]

White women are nothing to some Islamic and Arabic men. It's the reason our girls were abused in Rochdale and Oxford and the reason white German women were raped in Cologne.

They see us as white trash. And we are no longer safe. These migrants are a cultural time-bomb, brought up in a different era, Islamic Bernard Mannings — incompatible with modern life.

The Mayor of Cologne blames the women. She says German women should cover up, keep men at arm’s length and think about wearing something over our heads. She may as well just say 'buy a burka' and be done with it.

The Guardian feminazis are caught in a monumentally difficult place, their usual outrage over victim-blaming for rape kicked quietly into touch so that they can tiptoe quietly around the issue of race and culture.

There is no air left for even the screams of assaulted German girls to be heard in their own country where the Merkel government has ruthlessly managed coverage of its catastrophic decision to let in a million migrants at a stroke. [Daily Mail, 1/7/16]

Hopkins Attacked A Transgender Teen As A “Nasty Narcissist” Who “Cheat[ed] The System”

Hopkins: “If You Can’t Win Fairly, [Blacks And Trans People] Cheat The System Instead.” Hopkins attacked a transgender teenager, Mack Beggs, who won a girls’ wrestling championship despite identifying as a boy as “cheat[ing] the system,” and appeared to compare that kind of “cheat” to affirmative action:

[Twitter, 2/27/17]

Hopkins: “You Want To Be A Boy. And Are Still Prepared To Fight Girls … Nasty Narcissist.” Hopkins continued her attacks on a transgender teenager, calling him a “nasty narcissist” who wants to “fight girls” for competing in the girls’ wrestling competition:

Hopkins Reduces Feminism To “Showing Young Girls How To Get Attention”

Hopkins: “Modern Feminism. Showing Young Girls How To Get Attention… By Failing To Do Anything.”

Hopkins: “Sisterhood Only Extends As Far As The Kitchen Door. Men Talk In Logic And Rational Terms, They Don’t Squark And Make A Noise.” Hopkins labeled working women as “really vicious … really jealous” and prone to “cry in toilets,” while “men talk in logic and rational terms”:

“I think women are really vicious in the work place, they’re really jealous, really competitive. Women are emotional, they cry in toilets. The sisterhood only extends as far as the kitchen door. Men talk in logic and rational terms, they don’t squark and make a noise.” [The Telegraph, 1/8/15]

Hopkins: “Women Don’t Want Equal Treatment, They Couldn’t Handle It If They Got It.” Hopkins contended that women do not want equal treatment, they actually want “special treatment” and “need to realise .. they have to toughen up”:

“Women don’t want equal treatment, they couldn’t handle it if they got it. It’s a tough world out there. What a lot of women are actually looking for is special treatment. What women need to realise is that they have to toughen up.” [The Telegraph, 1/8/15]

Hopkins Regularly Shares Fake And Satirical News As Authentic

Hopkins Shared A White Nationalist Hoax About Urdu On English Road Signs. Hopkins “share[d] a white nationalist hoax” when she tweeted in defense of “English language school,” featuring a photo implying road signs in Bradford, England, had Urdu on them. Faith Matters traced the image to “a white nationalist hate site called The New Observer,” which writes often about “white genocide.” [Faith Matters, 5/19/16]

Hopkins Claimed She Would Attend A Race Promoted By Satirical Website, Not Realizing It Was Fake. Hopkins discussed an article about the M25 highway closure for a week-long endurance race during a LBC Radio show, not realizing the Southend News Network was a satirical site. Hopkins claimed she would attend the race “if only to go and mock people that are causing such chaos and havoc.” [iMediaEthics, 8/5/16]

Hopkins Falsely Suggested Two Muslims Traveling To The US Were Terrorists With “Confirmed Links With Al Qaeda.” In a now-deleted article for the Daily Mail, Hopkins falsely accused Mohammed Tariq Mahmood and Mohammed Zahid Mahmood of being “ extremists with links to Al Qaeda,” and lauded US customs for denying them entry. A year after the article was published, the Daily Mail retracted the story issuing a statement that “We are happy to make clear that Tariq Mahmood and Zahid Mahmood are not extremists, nor do they have links to Al Qaeda.” [Huffington Post, 12/21/16; New English Review, 12/24/15]

Katie Hopkins Is Beloved By The Alt-Right And White Nationalists

Katie Hopkins Is A Professional Troll Adored By Right-Wing Extremists. Hopkins’ articles at the Daily Mail are read and shared by members of the alt-right and white nationalist communities.
