Fox's Andrew McCarthy: Just because Flynn said in court that he was not entrapped by the FBI doesn't mean he doesn't think he was

McCarthy: “What I would say is that two things can be true”

From the December 18 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom:

BILL HEMMER (CO-HOST): Apparently a few moments ago, [Judge Emmet Sullivan] asked [Michael Flynn's attorney] outright whether or not that Flynn believes he was entrapped by the FBI, to which the attorney said, “No. Flynn has accepted full responsibility. He admitted that he lied to the FBI in that interview of January 2017.”

...

ANDREW MCCARTHY (FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR): Well, you know, I think to say that, as Flynn did, that he was not entrapped means that he doesn't believe that he has a legal entrapment defense. That's a very different thing from saying that he thinks everything that happened here was by the book. And, you know, I think what we're dealing with in Flynn's case are basically competing narratives, and it's hard to sort out what the truth is. On the Flynn camp, they say he got railroaded. He didn't really lie to the FBI, and he kind of got extorted into pleading guilty. On the other side, as you heard from director -- or former Director Comey yesterday, he knew that it was wrong to lie to FBI agents and he didn't tell them the truth. And what I would say is that two things can be true. It can be true that General Flynn should have told the truth to the FBI agents and he didn't, and that the way that they set up the interview was utterly inappropriate.
