Trump sent Pelosi a six-page rant on impeachment full of lies. National media outlets repeated some of those lies.

On the eve of President Donald Trump’s likely impeachment over his abuse of power regarding Ukraine, he sent House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) a letter which fact-checkers described as full of his usual falsehoods about the impeachment process, Ukraine, and other topics. But the Twitter accounts of many national media outlets picked out and repeated verbatim to their audiences some of Trump’s lies about impeachment.

The “rambling six-page letter,” as NBC News described it, targeted both Pelosi and the impeachment process. Some journalists called the letter “batshit,” “crazy town,” and “unhinged.” Fact-checkers explained that the letter contains many falsehoods.

Yet, much as they have done before, many national media outlets spread Trump’s farcical and false attacks on the constitutional impeachment process to their audiences:
