Fox Nation’s Tomi Lahren on proposed Virginia gun safety laws: “Stop coming for the Second Amendment” or there will be a civil war in the U.S.

Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren said “a major uprising” and “a civil war” is what will happen if Democrats continue trying to pass gun safety laws.
Following the 2019 Virginia elections in which Democrats gained control of both chambers of the legislature, Virginia lawmakers have been advancing several gun violence prevention bills with the support of Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam. So far, the legislature has voted four bills out of committee, including legislation to require background checks for all firearm sales, allowing law enforcement to temporarily remove firearms from people who are determined to be a danger to themselves or others, allowing municipalities to ban firearms from government buildings, and limiting handgun purchases to one firearm a month. As the bills move through the general assembly, an annual Lobby Day held on Capitol grounds outside the legislature is expected to bring in a large crowd. The day is observed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which falls on January 20 this year, and typically draws both those seeking to strengthen gun laws and those who want to loosen them.
The extremist gun group Virginia Citizens Defense League is claiming it expects anywhere between 50,000 and 120,000 attendees at its Lobby Day event. On January 15, Northam declared a state of emergency and announced a ban on all weapons from Capitol Grounds this year after law enforcement discovered credible threats of violence. In past years, VCDL supporters have openly carried handguns and assault weapons on Lobby Day, which is allowed by Virginia law.
During the January 16 edition of her Fox Nation show Final Thoughts, Lahren suggested that Northam and Virginia Democrats deserved “a major uprising” because they went “after peoples’ rights.” She went on to claim any gun safety laws are “a trap” that will inevitably result in a “civil war”:

TOMI LAHREN (HOST): Listen, Northam is clearly concerned about a major uprising and he should be. This is exactly what happens when you start going after peoples’ rights. Mayhem. There are maybe a few rights and privileges the American people might be convinced to part with, but trust me the First and Second Amendments are not included. Sure these reigning Virginia Democrats say they aren't going to go door-to-door and take anyone's guns. They say their proposals are just “common-sense gun safety.” They are lying. We know what the Democrats want to do.

LAHREN: The only difference between these gun control Democrats is how quickly they want to take your guns. Some want to chip away at your rights and others want to trick you into thinking that you'll be happy with just a few more laws and regulations. Either way, it's a trap. Now look, I certainly do not advocate for any protest or demonstration to become violent or anything other than peaceful. I also understand this is what will happen if politicians start encroaching on our rights. Some people will respond peacefully and others will not. You start a confiscation or “mandatory buy-back” and you'll have a civil war in this country. Nobody wants that so stop coming for the Second Amendment.
Lahren’s commentary echoed the remarks of extremists like Alex Jones and his Infowars outlet, where the prospect of violence during Lobby Day has been repeatedly hyped. Several militias have expressed their plans to attend the rally, including some organizers of the deadly 2017 “Unite the Right” rally. Numerous threats have also been posted on 4chan’s “politically incorrect” message board and the FBI has already arrested three members of a white supremacist organization over credible fears they were plotting violence at the protest.
In addition to hosting a Fox Nation show, Lahren has often been featured in National Rifle Association promotional materials in recent months.
