He has also become a go-to resource for journalists writing about fake news and the ways technology platforms are addressing the issue.

Breitbart also worked closely with white supremacists and neo-Nazis to push racist content.

    Birther Conspiracy Theory

    During President Barack Obama's campaign and presidency, right-wingers and conspiracy theorists claimed that Obama had not been born in the United States and had instead been born in Kenya, and that the birth certificates he released were fake. Prominent pushers of this conspiracy theory included Donald Trump and Fox News.

    Pete Hegseth

    Pete Hegseth is a Fox & Friends Weekend co-host who frequently advises President Trump both on-air and privately and campaigned to be named as Trump’s Veterans Affairs secretary. He also has lobbied the president to pardon military personnel charged and convicted of war crimes. Hegseth founded the Koch-linked conservative nonprofit Concerned Veterans for America in 2011, which he ran till around the 2016 presidential primaries. On November 12, 2024, President-Elect Donald Trump announced he would be nominating Hegseth to serve as Secretary of Defense.

    Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) was the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee when President Donald Trump took office and he went all-out to defend Trump from the committee's probe on Russia's interference in the 2016 election by cutting out Democrats from committee business, wrongly accused Obama administration officials of targeting Trump associates, and worked to discredit the FBI's investigations into Trump. He is currently the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee.

    The National Enquirer is an American tabloid magazine that focuses on celebrity stories. The National Enquirer was very supportive of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential run, and it bought stories from women who had affairs with Trump to keep them out of the news during the election.

  • Sidney Powell

    Sidney Powell

    Sidney Powell is a conservative attorney who led Donald Trump’s team in his failed attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

    Roger Stone is a longtime conservative political operative with a history of violent and incendiary rhetoric who has been banned during the 2016 election from Twitter, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. He unofficially aided President Donald Trump's presidential campaign during that election.

    Joseph diGenova is a Republican activist and attorney who, along with his wife Victoria Toensing, played a partisan role in Republican congressional investigations into President Bill Clinton during the 1990s, where he was criticized for unprofessional behavior. He also fabricated claims about the Benghazi terrorist attack and tried to join President Donald Trump's personal legal defense team amid investigations into Trump’s campaign and presidency. In his Fox News appearances, he typically criticizes the probes into Trump.

    Corey Lewandowski

    Corey Lewandowski was President Donald Trump's campaign manager until June 2016. During his time as campaign manager, he was charged with battery for grabbing a reporter, but the charge was soon dropped. After leaving the campaign, he briefly joined CNN as a political commentator while still receiving severance pay from the Trump campaign. Lewandowski later worked as a political commentator for One America News Network, but he was fired in July 2017.

  • David Clarke

    David Clarke

    David Clarke was a sheriff for 15 years and was a frequent commentator on Fox News, where he often made extreme statements. Clarke resigned as sheriff in 2017 soon after a report that he plagiarized parts of his thesis for his master’s degree. Following a failed appointment to President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, he briefly joined the pro-Trump PAC America First Action as an adviser and spokesperson. 

  • Michael Cohen

    Michael Cohen

    Cohen, who was also a vice-president of The Trump Organization, was convicted on several counts of campaign finance violations, tax fraud, and bank fraud in 2018.

  • Turning Point USA

    Turning Point USA is an organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses.

  • Michael Flynn

    Michael Flynn

    Flynn was ousted from the Trump administration after information surfaced highlighting his connection to Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn has since plead guilty for making false statements to the FBI about his contact with Kislyak.
