Soon after, he was hired as a contributor by Fox News, where he was groomed into becoming a Republican presidential candidate and repeatedly defended by Fox hosts for his many bizarre and outrageous statements. After unsuccessfully seeking the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, he became President Donald Trump's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
