Clarke resigned as sheriff in 2017 soon after a report that he plagiarized parts of his thesis for his master’s degree. Following a failed appointment to President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, he briefly joined the pro-Trump PAC America First Action as an adviser and spokesperson.

The network was founded in 1989 by conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch and was formerly owned by News Corp.

    G. Gordon Liddy

    G. Gordon Liddy was a former FBI agent and served 4 and a half years in prison for being part of the burglary team in the Watergate scandal during the Nixon administration. He later had a talk radio show between 1992 and 2012 and was a proponent of the racist birther conspiracy theory against President Barack Obama.

It is one of the most influential and extreme anti-LGBTQ groups in the country. Under Perkins’ leadership, FRC supported legislation in Uganda that could have punished gay men with execution for having sex. Perkins is also a frequent guest on cable news and serves as a commissioner of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.

It has been well-funded over the years by major conservative donor foundations and ExxonMobil. Besides publishing articles and reports on its various websites, it also sometimes launches ineffective boycott campaigns in attempts to protest media behavior. The MRC also objects to positive portrayals of LGBTQ people on television.

    Bob Woodward

    Bob Woodward is an investigative journalist who, along with fellow Washington Post reporter Carl Bernstein, led the reporting on the Watergate scandal during the Reagan administration. He has since written over a dozen books on American politics and continues to serve as an editor at the Post. His 2018 book Fear: Trump in the White House caused panic within the administration over the amount of sensitive information leaked to Woodward from within the Trump White House.

    Charlie Rose

    Charlie Rose hosted the talk show Charlie Rose on PBS from 1991 through 2017 and also co-hosted CBS This Morning and was a correspondent for 60 Minutes. He was dropped by both outlets in November 2017 following reports that he sexually harassed and mistreated dozens of women he worked with.
