Ex-OAN host Christina Bobb moonlights as Trump rally co-host for RSBN

Bobb is using the platform to recruit far-right election workers

Former OAN host Christina Bobb, now an attorney for former President Donald Trump, recently picked up a side gig doing what she called “some contributing” for Right Side Broadcasting Network, a right-wing media company known for live streaming entire Trump rallies.

Bobb has co-hosted RSBN’s coverage of Trump rallies since at least September. While hosting, Bobb has routinely pushed conspiracy theories about the 2020 election having been stolen while recruiting viewers to get involved and supposedly help protect both the 2022 and 2024 elections (as she has done repeatedly on OAN).

“It was a suckerpunch in 2020, and we didn’t expect it coming,” Bobb said during Trump's October 22 rally in Texas, but “2022 is our chance to make up the ground we lost in 2020.” With Van Halen’s “Panama” blaring on the rally soundtrack behind her, Bobb said if viewers are “frustrated about the stolen election” to “volunteer, become a poll worker, become an observer, a challenger, a judge, and just make sure that you are actively involved in your local community, in your elections. The more eyes we have on the election, the more secure the election is.”

Throughout RSBN’s broadcast, Bobb drove the same point home, again and again. “There’s a lot of really key races …. [that MAGA Republicans] really want to capture in order to kind of secure the election for 2024,” Bobb said during the pre-show. And in these elections, “it’s great to vote, but if your vote gets thrown out it doesn't matter. So make sure you're one of the poll workers.”

“I know I have a soapbox,” Bobb said, again teeing up one of her pleas, “but work the polls. Volunteer, become a poll worker. … It’s just so, so important that in your county you've got enough conservative representatives to hold people accountable.”

Contrary to Bobb’s claims about accountability, her plan poses significant risks to actual election integrity. An army of right-wing poll workers, driven by their false beliefs about the 2020 election, pose an obvious risk of voter disenfranchisement, intimidation, or even disqualifying legitimate ballots. This election fraud lie previously drove multiple states to restrict the right to vote after 2020, and others to pursue a wasteful “auditing” process -- with Bobb’s heavy involvement and encouragement. This year in Arizona, there have already been instances of armed “poll watchers” staking out ballot drop boxes, apparently inspired by the same 2020 conspiracy theories. On October 28, a federal judge ruled that this conduct is not against the law.

When not fomenting the next step in right-wing media’s conspiratorial obsession with Trump’s electoral defeat, Bobb also discussed several midterm races in detail. On the Arizona gubernatorial contest, Bobb suggested that Democratic candidate Katie Hobbs will use her role as Arizona’s secretary of state to cheat in her own election. And while discussing Pennsylvania’s Senate race, Bobb mocked Democratic candidate and current Lt. Gov. John Fetterman for having a stroke this summer.

Reminiscing about “joking a little bit in the car earlier” with RSBN’s Matthew Alvarez, Bobb made note of a conversation between Fetterman and President Joe Biden where cameras were not allowed. She asked, “What do you think a conversation between Joe Biden, who’s suffering from severe dementia, and Fetterman, who has his own cognitive issues after his stroke -- what was that conversation like, do you think?”

“All I know is, there wasn’t a lot of substance most likely,” Alvarez replied, after which Bobb added, “Lots of assistance from staffers,” followed by an awkward chuckle.

During her time at OAN, Bobb focused on pushing 2020 misinformation and driving her viewers to use their false beliefs to get involved in future elections. Although she has a job on Trump’s legal team, she still has the time to use a conservative media megaphone to help poison the electoral process.
