Only on Fox: Hume said Democrats investigating U.S. attorney firings are like “a dog with a new bone”

On the March 15 edition of Fox News' Special Report, while introducing a report on the latest developments into the firing of eight U.S. attorneys, Fox News Washington managing editor Brit Hume likened Senate Democrats investigating the firings to “a dog with a new bone ... continuing to gnaw away.”

As the Associated Press has reported, several Republicans have also expressed concern at the firings, with two -- Sen. John Sununu (NH) and Sen. Gordon Smith (OR) -- calling for Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales' resignation. In his report on the firings, Fox News White House correspondent Wendell Goler noted that Sununu called for Gonzales to step down.

From the March 15 edition of Fox News' Special Report with Brit Hume:

HUME: Like a dog with a new bone, Senate Democrats are continuing to gnaw away at the Justice Department's firing of eight U.S. attorneys and whether the dismissals were politically motivated. The current target appears to be the attorney general, with senators trying to get some of his subordinates to go on the record. White House correspondent Wendell Goler reports.
