Newsmax hosts embrace conspiracy theory claiming Trump can still win since Kamala Harris hasn’t resigned her Senate seat

On December 15, Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield floated a bizarre election-related conspiracy theory. Introducing a segment on false accusations of widespread voter fraud, Stinchfield claimed that Vice President-elect Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) believes President Donald Trump could still win the presidential election given that Harris has not yet resigned her current seat in the United States Senate.

GRANT STINCHFIELD (HOST): May I remind you, Harris is a woman who has yet to resign from the United States Senate in preparation of becoming the next vice president and, ultimately, president -- if the media gets their way. Why hasn't she resigned yet? Because maybe, like all of us, she still thinks President Trump has a shot at victory if only all the evidence of fraud can be proven and exposed.

On Monday the Electoral College convened across the nation and officially confirmed Joe Biden and Harris’s win with 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232.
Additionally, as The New York TImes pointed out in debunking tweets about this conspiracy theory, there is absolutely nothing unusual about Harris having not yet resigned her Senate seat. Everyone is aware that she will do so at some point in the next month.
