ROB FINNERTY: We don't think we've ever been less interested in a story than we are tonight talking about another government shutdown.
What was once rare has become a media created crisis semiannually, where nothing actually happens. The last time the government shutdown was seven years ago, when it shut down for 35 days. What changed? Anything changed for you? Anything at all?
But the narrative from the left is always, oh, these poor government employees who can't go to work during the shutdown. My goodness, they can't get to the office. Where, in reality, these poor government employees are now on a paid vacation. The employees that actually matter still have to go to the office, but the rest are literally called nonessential employees. I didn't make that up. That's what they're called. That's what we've called them for years, and most of them are under 30 years-old. And all of them were on vacation today.
The government shutdown is just so stupid, and I think you agree with me. Have you ever noticed that government shutdowns only happen when Donald Trump seems to be in the Oval Office? The last time the government shutdown, guess what? Donald Trump was in the Oval Office. You think that's a coincidence? Do you think that's random? We'll let you decide. But the speaker of the House doesn't think it is.
