CARL HIGBIE (HOST): Well, Virginia's political map war heads straight to the courtroom. Less than a week after Virginia voters narrowly backed new congressional voting maps, which could, if it's upheld, give Democrats a 10 to one advantage in November, the Supreme Court in Virginia heard oral arguments today for about an hour, and at the center of the fight is whether this new map follows the rules or bends them or completely breaks them. Democrats pushing a mid-decade redraw to rip up the current lines and flip Virginia's delegation from a slim six-five Democrat majority to 10 to one. Republicans aren't buying it, obviously, arguing that Democrats steamrolled the process with unconstitutional procedural shortcuts and improperly extended legislative session. But critics argue this isn't just about Virginia. It's about control of Congress, with a decision expected in the next few weeks. All eyes are on the justices. Does this power grab stand before the 2026 midterms, or does the whole thing get tossed and sent back to lawmakers? Host of Ben Ferguson Show, Ben Ferguson in studio. My man. What do you think?

BEN FERGUSON (GUEST): It's interesting to see how close we are to a civil war politically on the election —

HIGBIE: Close? We're there politically.

FERGUSON: There there.

HIGBIE: It's a cultural civil war.

FERGUSON: Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But you look at what happened and I go back to where I came from today in Texas, we had a big fight there. And then Democrats are like, oh, we're going to start gerrymandering.

HIGBIE: Start?

FERGUSON: Like, dude, you guys have been gerrymandering for like a really long time. Look at everywhere in the northeast, it's like, hey, we have 43% Republicans in the state, but 90% of the seats go to the Democrats.

HIGBIE: 100% New England.

FERGUSON: New England, 100%. Exactly. You look at Virginia, and I think what's going to be interesting here is how fast they probably get slapped down on this, the same way that we just saw the slap down from Democrats losing their mind over what we did in Texas. And the Supreme Court said, hey, it's good. It's legit because —

HIGBIE: They're squarish.

FERGUSON: They're not — correct. Yeah. They're not, you're not drawing random maps saying like with middle fingers to everybody that you don't want to get elected. The way that Texas did it, I don't think people understood we were playing chess, not checkers.

HIGBIE: Right.

FERGUSON: We were looking at the map. We were doing it the way we thought would be adequate. And we also were thinking about it obviously being sued over it because we knew that's what Democrats do very well.

HIGBIE: Right.

FERGUSON: You look at Virginia, they said, oh, the hell with all of that. Forget the rules, forget the legislation, forget what the citizens have said. We're just going to throw it all out and we're going to draw you guys out. And now Florida is going to respond.
