Predicting Media Matters would flag his Cindy Sheehan attacks, Boortz also declared Islam a religion of “violent, bloodthirsty cretins” and called Prophet Muhammad a “phony rag-picker”

Neal Boortz claimed that “at its core,” Islam is a “violent, violent religion,” called “this Muhammad guy [] just a phony rag-picker,” and asserted that "[i]t is perfectly legitimate, perhaps even praiseworthy, to recognize Islam as a religion of vicious, violent, bloodthirsty cretins." Boortz also labeled Cindy Sheehan a “lunatic”, a “moonbat”, and a “crazy broad,” adding, “I had to give Media Matters something to do.”

On the July 19 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Neal Boortz claimed that “at its core,” Islam is a “violent, violent religion,” and called “this Muhammad guy [] just a phony rag-picker.” Boortz asserted that "[i]t is perfectly legitimate, perhaps even praiseworthy, to recognize Islam as a religion of vicious, violent, bloodthirsty cretins." Earlier in the program, Boortz labeled anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan a “lunatic”, a “moonbat”, and a “crazy broad.” Boortz then predicted a response from Media Matters for America, stating, “I had to give Media Matters something to do” and asking his audience, “Let's see, two hours before it's on there? Three? Four? Five? What do you think?”

From the July 19 broadcast of Cox Radio Syndication's The Neal Boortz Show:

BOORTZ: In fact, she [Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA)] had it all set up for a little celebration. A par-tay last night here in Atlanta. She invited some of her best buddies to come into town. Including Cindy Sheehan, that lunatic, the moonbat, the lady that would rather live under [President] Hugo Chavez in Venezuela than [President] George Bush in America, the lady who says that George Bush is the world's No. 1 terrorist. Cindy Sheehan was here last night to party down with Cynthia McKinney. Only the party didn't happen.

[...]

BOORTZ: Do you think, then, maybe the American people would realize that we are at war against these Islamic extremists, and wanna actually do something about it? And tell Cindy Sheehan to sit down and shut up, you crazy broad. Back in a moment.

[...]

BOORTZ: I had to give Media Matters something to do. Let's see, two hours before it's on there? Three? Four? Five? What do you think?

[...]

BOORTZ: I don't care whether you were born into the religion, or you chose the religion. It is, at its core, a violent, violent religion. I could, you know --

CALLER: I disagree with you sir --

BOORTZ: Well, I know you disagree with me. That's fine, you can disagree all you want. And I also believe that this Muhammad guy is just a phony rag-picker that created --

CALLER: You have a right to believe whatever you like.

BOORTZ: Well, thank you for that.

[...]

BOORTZ: As long as we have stories like that -- and they're easy to find in the media virtually every day -- as long as we have stories like that about the religion of Islam, then it is perfectly legitimate, perhaps even praiseworthy, to recognize Islam as a religion of vicious, violent, bloodthirsty cretins.
