ALICIA MENENDEZ (CO-HOST): Yes, and to bring us from our founding fathers to the modern day GOP, you actually finally saw Republicans, a handful of them, albeit, coming out and saying, "I know this is a bridge too far." I think because, to your point, they know it is politically unpopular. Let's look at the full screen of all of these Republicans who raised concerns about FCC pressure on Disney. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Todd Young, David McCormick. And I want you to take a listen to what Rand Paul had to say on Meet the Press.

Kind of like two truths and a lie there.

ANGELO CARUSONE (MEDIA MATTERS PRESIDENT): That's very true. And I hope that this is the first of many fights that we're going to see specifically from the FCC and Brendan Carr, because let's not forget, he wrote down his plans in Project 2025. He contributed to it. And one of -- this is all forecasted and telegraphed.

But the stuff that we're seeing with broadcast media and traditional media is really just sort of an aside, actually. They have their sights set on where the future is going to be in the information landscape, and that is online and tech. And the same pressure that we've seen apply here, threats around mergers, investigations, tweaking licenses, all that, expanding the definitions of things that are in their purview, they plan on doing tenfold when it comes to the online platforms and technologies.

And so, we shouldn't lose sight of why this fight's important, not just in the moment, but it also then gives us a little bit of a plan for how we approach these future fights. Because if you think they're just going to stop after one run, you're wrong. These are not liberals and Democrats, right? That say, "One and done." No, no, they're going to continue to forge ahead. It's a setback and they will continue to fight ahead.

So, we now have at least an illustrated counter strategy for how we confront the next fights in front of us, which are going to be much more significant.
