JILLIAN MELE (ANCHOR): Former First Lady, Michelle Obama, making an emotional plea to voters that seemed to be more anti-Trump than pro-Biden. The theme of the night was unity. Did she strike the right tone? Joining us live is the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Fox News contributor Doctor Alveda King. It's good to see you this morning. Thanks for being here.

ALVEDA KING (FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR): Good morning, I'm so glad to join you this morning.

MELE: Of course. Now, look, a lot of people are giving her good reviews for her speech. I'm curious what you thought of it, because she really didn't mention too much about Joe Biden. It did seem to be very anti-President Trump. What are your thoughts?

KING: Mrs. Obama has to give you her very best in identity politics to scare the heck out of you and to say vote -- I agree, we are telling everyone to vote. President Trump is doing his best to remind people to send absentee ballots, go to the polls, socially distance of course, and vote -- vote early.

And so if you create chaos and then scare people, then you're the one that is going to give them the answer and she is doing an excellent job at that.

What we are seeing is identity politics at its best. Sincere, maybe. Honest, not necessarily. And so I thought she was compelling, it was a pre-recorded speech so she didn't say a lot about Biden nor Harris. And I'll just have to remind people, don't be fooled by pretty brown faces. We are dealing with identity politics.

MELE: Did you want to hear her say anything about Kamala Harris? I mean, it's my understanding that this was recorded before Harris was named the VP pick, but did you want to hear anything said about her?

KING: I am wondering what any of those who are speaking first will have to say, none of them are running for office. So it's going to be their strategy to attack President Trump, who really is really good job, he's getting the people checks, money, the payroll tax kinds of things, he's helping folks a lot, doing his very best to find solutions to COVID, because nothing regular won't work, because COVID is very irregular. So it's appropriate what the president is doing.

So slam President Trump, say that he divides, but you know what? President Trump saying we don't worship government, we worship God, praying in the White House, causing prayer and causing people to come to together and pray, believe it, that's very unifying. Prayer does unite us. And Biden, if he ever admits it, he said it in one of his books, my faith is in the Catholic culture. His faith is not in God, it is in culture. So these are culture people, fighting and stirring up culture wars. And that's what we're seeing-- identity politics.
