Savage: Sewer dwellers at Media Matters would've “been very comfortably ensconced in the Stalinist period” in the USSR

From the June 26 broadcast of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:

SAVAGE: Look, if you're not outspoken, you shouldn't be in this business. If you have no str-- if your opinions are not strong, don't go into talk radio. And if you can't back up your strong opinions with facts, don't even bother trying because you're not going to get anywhere. That's all. And don't expect people to like you for your -- for expressing yourself.

You know, the first thing to remember is, you're going to make as many enemies, if not more, than you do friends in this business. And you have to be willing to live with the hate because there's a lot of it out there. And there's now a professional hate machine in the Obama White House. They have a very well-oiled hate machine. And the head of that hate machine are the people in Media Matters, in my opinion, an organization that would've been very comfortably ensconced in the Stalinist period in the Soviet Union. They monitor political conservatives. They take statements that we make out of context. They broadcast them so that people can try to lambaste us based upon out-of-context statements.

And that is why we have gotten their tax records, since they're a 501(c)(3). And there's a large group now of conservative intellectuals who are doing an exposé that -- I don't know when it's going to be out -- that will disclose who they are, what their names are, how much money they make, and where the money comes from. When that comes out, they will find out that although they like to throw brickbats and they like to hide in the dark in the sewers in which they dwell, once they become public figures and once people know what their names are and how much money they make, they will find out what it is like to be a public figure.

Whether the Republicans will ever be able to challenge their IRS status and take away their 501(c)(3) status, if it is found out that they are a political group -- which is what they are, in my opinion. I don't think you understand nonprofits, and I don't want to waste your time with it. It's technically very easy to follow. If you have a nonprofit group and you engage in any way in political work, you will lose your nonprofit status. Now, how can you tell me that Media Matters -- which only focuses on conservatives in the media, only tries to undermine Michael Savage and others in the conservative side of the media -- how could you tell me they're not a political group? As such, if we had a fair-minded IRS, they'd be investigated, and if and when they are found guilty in engaging in political activities, they would lose their nonprofit status. That's my opinion. Will it happen? I don't know. It should happen.

What do you want to talk -- don't call me on this because this is a topic that's off the beaten path. Leprechaun should be doing this. Wallbanger should be doing this. Golfer should be doing this. I don't know what in the world they're doing with their time. They should be going after the people who are trying to destroy them. But I guess because I'm the largest target, the target they like -- I don't know. I really don't know where they're coming from.
