    • Fox Business’ Larry Kudlow predicted “negative” inflation for December 2025. In reality, inflation actually increased.
    • Fox News’ Will Cain: “There’s a weird kind of smugness … in the way that some of these liberal white women interact with authority.”

Last Sunday, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell confirmed that he was under investigation by the Justice Department. On Monday, the news drew swift pushback across right-wing media, as pundits typically aligned with President Donald Trump savaged the move as “lawfare for dummies” that would “make a martyr” of its target. Even Trump’s loyal Fox Business bootlicker Maria Bartiromo suggested on her show that “Wall Street” opposed the investigation.

It was an odd turn of events because Trump’s use of the Justice Department as a cudgel against his enemies typically draws support from at least some faction of MAGA media. But the response to the Powell probe has been remarkably negative across the board.

    • The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro said the investigation is a “mistake,” “bad policy,” and “a risky financial move.”
    • A Newsmax guest said the investigation “might have completely backfired on Trump.”
    • Fox Business’ Larry Kudlow warned not to “make a martyr out of Jay Powell.”

White House officials are reportedly blaming the outcry on U.S. attorney and former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro for the firestorm surrounding the criminal probe into Powell. But, as Media Matters’ Matt Gertz points out, it would be a mistake to treat Pirro’s nakedly pretextual bid to punish Powell as the actions of a rogue actor.

  • This week's infighting

    • After endorsing Trump in 2024, Podcaster Joe Rogan has been breaking with the president on a variety of issues. This week, he said, “I can also see the point of view of the people that say, ‘Yeah, but you don’t want militarized people in the streets just roaming around snatching people up, many of which turn out to be U.S. citizens.”
    • Podcaster Tim Pool said it is “wholly inappropriate” for Trump to advocate the death penalty for Democratic members of Congress.
  • Right-wing media calls for Renee Good’s widow to be prosecuted

Last week we told you about the disgusting reaction from right-wing media to Renee Good being killed by an Immigration Customs Enforcement official in Minneapolis. Proving that there is no bottom to the abyss that conservative pundits will fall, this week we have seen pundits calling for Good’s widow to be prosecuted.

    • Newsmax host Greg Kelly claimed Becca Good was “instigating the whole damn thing” and “should be charged.”
    • Podcaster Megyn Kelly claimed Good’s wife committed a “felony” and should be arrested for “aiding and abetting the resisting of arrest and the fleeing from a crime scene.”
    • Podcaster Benny Johnson: “You’ve got to charge the wife or the partner here” with attempted murder.

It’s not just right-wing pundits who are calling for Good’s widow to be prosecuted — senior Justice Department officials are also pushing for an investigation into Becca Good. In response to this effort, at least six Minnesota federal prosecutors have resigned

  • Excuse me?

    • Trump’s incendiary threats against Greenland continued to find support in right-wing media this week. Tucker Carlson said the U.S. taking Greenland would end NATO and called that a “huge victory for the world and the United States.” Meanwhile, former Deputy National Security Advisor KT McFarland claimed, “At the end of the day, we’re going to get control of Greenland.”
    • Newsmax guest said Ms. Rachel is “a terrorist-loving, mentally ill psychopath who should not be allowed near children.”
    • Fox’s Greg Gutfeld on the ICE shooting in Minneapolis: “When you kick over a beehive, don’t complain when the bees come back at you.”
  • Right-wing media pundits call for the Insurrection Act

still of Watters; chyron: This is a battle of wills

As anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis continue after the fatal shooting of Renee Good, Donald Trump has threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act — a 19th century law that would allow the president to unilaterally deploy the military to perform domestic law enforcement. This is not the first time Trump has threatened to use this law.

Trump is receiving support across right-wing media to deploy the military to Minneapolis. Earlier this week, Fox’s Laura Ingraham floated the idea of Trump invoking the law. But as Trump ratcheted up his threats, many other right-wing pundits jumped in to egg him on.

    • War Room host Steve Bannon: “Insurrection Act first, troops second, mass deportations third.”
    • The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh said Trump should “invoke the Insurrection Act, send in the military.”
    • Podcaster Tim Pool: “At what point will Trump just do it? Invoke the Insurrection Act. Round these people up.”
    • Fox host Emily Compagno voiced support for Trump invoking the Insurrection Act: “There is absolutely ground for that.”
    • Podcaster Benny Johnson: “Invoke the Insurrection Act in Minneapolis.”

It is a sign of how authoritarian and bloodthirsty MAGA media has become when they are shrieking into the microphones, demanding the president sic troops on Americans.
