MATT WALSH (HOST): AOC and Mamdani were conveying in Spanish that free child care is available to New Yorkers, and that is tax-funded child care, so not free at all. And it's available, she made sure to emphasize, regardless of immigration status. So in other words, they were explicitly advertising free child care for illegal immigrants. So if you live in New York City, you are forced at gunpoint to provide -- to pay for day care for people who don't legally belong in the country.

Now, I don't even need to say at this point that this should not be legal, these people should be arrested. I mean, that's obvious. It's also obvious or should be that tax-funded day care is an insane idea. Insane for illegal aliens, but insane in general. You know, we should be doing everything we can to -- we should be doing the opposite. Like, everything we can to discourage families from putting their kids in day care. So that's the opposite of what we're doing.

Because even getting aside from the illegal alien part of this, which, again, that's especially egregious, but, tax-funded day care is a terrible idea in and of itself.

Day care is a terrible idea for the most part. Day care is bad for kids. It just is. Dropping your two or three year-old child off in a day care center and saying, hey, I'll see you later tonight - that's bad for them. It is very bad for them, and tons of research shows this. Young kids going to day care centers translates to attachment issues, emotional issues, behavior problems, learning difficulties. Kids are not at that age are not supposed to be away from home all day like that. Not in that kind of environment. That's -- kids are not -- that's -- it's not healthy. It may be more most convenient, but that's just -- it's - it's not much different from, OK. I'm gonna put my kid in front of a TV all day. I'm gonna have them on their phone all day so I don't have to deal with them. I understand that that's more convenient. I get it. It makes your life easier. But it is obviously bad for your kids, so at least admit that.
