Fox “straight news” program explicitly promotes Trump's attempted coup

Harris Faulkner's Outnumbered Overtime tweets out #stopthesteal

We at Media Matters have noted that Fox's so-called “straight news” programs have repeatedly promoted Trump's ongoing attempted coup. Even by that low standard, Fox hit a breathtaking new low today.

On Outnumbered Overtime, “straight news” anchor Harris Faulkner hosted Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) to talk about Trump's effort. It was ridiculous:

It gets worse. The Twitter account for Outnumbered Overtime promoted it with a #stopthesteal hashtag:

The hashtag is well-known for being a hub of election conspiracy theories. (In fact, it dates back to efforts by Roger Stone in 2016.)

We noted last week that Faulkner immediately ramped up coverage of the sham meeting in Arizona featuring Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani after Trump complained on Twitter. This all comes as Fox is facing a challenge from further-right outlets like Newsmax and OAN that are explicitly supporting Trump's attempted coup.
