Beck Echoes Joel Richardson: Warns Of Antichrist, Caliphate Led By Turkey

In addition to endorsing author and anti-Muslim activist Joel Richardson's attempts to link Islam to the Antichrist, Glenn Beck also echoed Richardson's views linking Turkey to a purported future Islamic caliphate.

Beck Warns Of Sunni-Shiite Unification, New Islamic Empire Based In Turkey

Beck: Shiites In Tehran Are Calling For “An Islamic Caliphate That Will Unite The Sunnis And Shias.” On his radio show today Glenn Beck warned that “the Sunnis are talking about a United Islamic Nations, and the Shiites are now ... calling for an Islamic caliphate that will unite” the two sects. He went on to argue that “Turkey is setting itself up as the home of the caliphate” and “they're starting to get in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood, deeply.” [Premiere Radio Networks, The Glenn Beck Program, 2/18/10]

Richardson: Islamic Scholars See “Sign[s] That Ahmadinejad And The Iranian Government Are Supporting The Emerging Turkish-Led Islamic Union.” From a column by Richardson at WorldNetDaily, headlined “Will Turkey lead a revived Islamic empire?”:

The truth is, even if al-Qaida succeeded in its dream of reviving a caliphate, it would only give the U.S. military a clearly defined target. But how would the U.S. respond if Turkey, one of our historically greatest allies in the region, emerges as an Islamist superpower? What will our relationship be with a neo-Ottoman caliphate? Now, it is doubtful of course that such a historically loaded term would ever be used. Far more likely, we will see the use of a far less threatening term, such as the title championed by Adnan Oktar, a Turkish Muslim intellectual who has been calling for a “Turkish-led Islamic Union.” Oktar, although a controversial figure, is highly respected in many circles and is the most published author in the Islamic world, with over 65 million of his works in circulation.

[...]

We should not take Mr. Oktar's vision lightly. For the past several years, I have been highlighting the merging of two very significant developments in the nation of Turkey -- the first issue being the rapid Islamization of the nation. Much has been written concerning this development in recent months. But the second issue, perhaps of even greater significance, is Turkey's re-emergence as leader of the region. For over 500 years, the Turkish Ottomans ruled the Middle East, and, in the years to come, they will arise once again as a regional superpower. And much of the world will welcome this as a positive development.

I also believe that a Turkish-led Islamic empire is clearly prophesied in the Bible. In my book “The Islamic Antichrist” (which was originally written in 2004), I walk through the biblical basis for such a claim. Five years later, despite Turkey's rapid ascension in the region and in the world, some still look with skepticism on such claims. Of course, time will either confirm or put to rest this idea.

And recently another very significant event took place that entirely escaped notice inthe Western press. During a visit to Istanbul, Iranian President Ahmadinejad stood inside the Sultanahmet Mosque and prayed behind a Turkish Sunni imam. Ahmadinejad then stated, “The political meaning of this act is immense.” Many within Turkey and the broader Islamic world took notice. According to Oktar, this was a sign that Ahmadinejad and the Iranian government are supporting the emerging Turkish-led Islamic Union. [WorldNetDaily, 10/22/09]

Beck And Richardson Tie Islam To The Antichrist

Beck: The Twelfth Imam “Has All Of The Earmarks ... Of An Antichrist.” From Beck's radio show:

BECK: I want to talk to you about what's happening in Egypt, and I want to give you information that you're just not getting, I don't think, any place else, and I don't know why. Tonight at 5 o'clock, we're spending an hour on the Muslim Brotherhood and their connections. Who are they and what are their connections?

You have to understand that a caliphate is being built and global unrest is being sown. Those are two separate things. One: the caliphate. The caliphate is an idea that there will be one global regime.

[...]

BECK: One, a caliphate is a global government, and you know that's where we're headed. Everybody is headed now towards a global government. Well, so are the Islamic extremists, except theirs is Sharia law and infidels will be beheaded. The Shiite Muslims, the ones in Iran, believe in -- and not all of them, not the people necessarily on the street -- but the real radicals, the revolutionaries and the people at the very top are called Twelvers. They believe in the Twelfth Imam. And that will -- that Twelfth Imam, when he returns, he will set up a global caliphate in ancient Babylon.

This one should gravely concern you because he has all of the earmarks -- in their own writings -- of an Antichrist, or the Antichrist. I don't know if he is or not. But there are those who will just claim, you know, he's the Twelfth Imam, etcetera, et cetera et cetera. And the way to get there is global chaos.

“O Allah, give me the strength to hasten the return of the promised one.” That is the Twelfth Imam, and that is the way that everyone in Iran, in the leadership, signs off on all of their speeches. They want a caliphate. [Premiere Radio Networks, The Glenn Beck Program, 2/1/11]

Richardson Posits That Muslim Mahdi Will Be The Antichrist, Claims Islam Is “Primary Vehicle” Of Satan. In his book The Islamic Antichrist [WND Books, 2009], Richardson “makes the case that the biblical Antichrist is one and the same as the Quran's Muslim Mahdi.” [WorldNetDaily, 8/3/09]. He also claims that Islam is “the primary vehicle that will be used by Satan to fulfill the prophecies of the Bible about the future political/religious/military system of the Antichrist.” From The Islamic Antichrist:

So maybe you now agree that it is important to become informed regarding Islam, but you may wonder why it is important to understand Islamic eschatology specifically. That's a good question. Please think through some of these points carefully: The Bible makes it clear that the Devil's primary plan for the last days has been, for the past few thousand years, to raise up two men, the Antichrist and the False Prophet, as his primary instruments to deceive the inhabitants of the earth. How do you suppose that Satan has planned to include the world's 1.5 billion Muslims in his grand end-time deception? Did Satan fail to foresee and strategize regarding the global spread of Islam? Or has Satan included the Muslims of the world in his end-time strategy? Will Islam, the world's third monotheistic religion, also undergo the persecution of Satan along with Christians and Jews as they all resist the Antichrist together? Or will Islam -- the religion that prides itself on resisting any form of idolatry -- simply submit to a demonic and false religious leader without putting up any real fight? For years, I questioned the Lord about these issues. In time, as my knowledge of Islam deepened, the answers to my questions became very clear. This book is my attempt to share with you what I have learned. I understand that this may sound like a strong statement to make, but I believe that the information presented in this book will establish the fact that Islam is indeed the primary vehicle that will be used by Satan to fulfill the prophecies of the Bible about the future political/religious/military system of the Antichrist that will overwhelm the entire world just prior to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Beck Devotes Episode Of Fox News Show To Promoting Richardson's Antichrist Theories. On the February 17 edition of his Fox News show, Beck hosted Richardson to discuss his theories, outlining the similarities Richardson claims exists between the biblical Antichrist and the Mahdi on a chalkboard. [Fox News, Glenn Beck, 2/17/11]

Richardson Has History Of Making Outrageous Claims

Richardson Agrees That “Islam Is Of The Devil,” Likened Obama To Antichrist. In addition to claiming that Islam will be the “primary vehicle” “used by Satan to fulfill the prophecies of the Bible,” Richardson - who has presented himself as a prophet -- has also agreed with the Florida pastor who planned to burn Qurans that “Islam is of the devil” and written a column headlined “What Obama and the Antichrist have in common.” [Media Matters, 2/17/11]
