Wash. Examiner: Email List Organized By Sen. Cruz's Office Discussing “Legislation And Messaging” With “Conservative Media”

An October 3 Washington Examiner article reported that Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) staff has organized an email list about the government shutdown and "[m]embers of the group have engaged in more than 100 email threads during the government funding debate, featuring discussions about legislation and messaging." Participants on the email list reportedly include Tea Party leaders, advocacy groups, conservative media, and “like-minded senior staff in the House and Senate.”

Members of the conservative media previously attacked Journolist, a listserv of liberal, centrist, and conservative journalists, opinion writers, and academics engaged in running debates about current events. In July, Mother Jones' David Corn reported on Groundswell, a coalition of prominent right-wing activists and journalists who use a listserv and regular meetings to coordinate a “two front war” against both progressives and Fox News political analyst and former Bush aide Karl Rove, who the group believes is insufficiently conservative. According to Corn, members of the Groundswell group include writers for Breitbart News and the Washington Examiner and people like Fox News contributors Allen West and John Bolton.

From the Examiner article:

House and Senate conservative lawmakers are not the only ones coordinating, either. A non-government email listserv organized by Cruz's staff, called “We Win, They Lose,” has been a hive of activity before and during the government shutdown.

Members of the group have engaged in more than 100 email threads during the government funding debate, featuring discussions about legislation and messaging among Tea Party leaders, advocacy groups like the Senate Conservatives Fund, conservative media, and like-minded senior staff in the House and Senate.
