Fox News has effusively praised Trump's strikes on Iran

Network figures have recommended Trump receive a Nobel Prize and called the attacks “a watershed moment for world peace”

On June 21, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. military launched a series of strikes directed at three of Iran’s nuclear facilities. Although some right-wing media have been divided over escalation with Iran, Fox News personalities and guests have been mostly uniform in their support of U.S. military intervention — and according to The New York Times, Fox News’ own reporting influenced Trump’s decision to launch strikes.

After the U.S. airstrikes, Fox News was quick to praise Trump and his decision to launch the attack — calling him “a historic figure,” suggesting the strikes were “a watershed moment for peace,” and claiming the bomber crews “potentially saved the world by doing this.” And after Trump announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, Fox hosts and guests said Trump should be given a Nobel Peace Prize and have his face carved on Mount Rushmore. But according to the early U.S. intelligence assessments, the strikes did not destroy Iran's nuclear program and likely set it back by mere months.

    • Over the weekend, the U.S. forces carried out coordinated strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, which Trump described as spectacular. Despite Trump claiming on June 19 that he needed “two weeks” to decide on a course of action with Iran, his administration launched strikes the following day. Trump described the operation as “spectacular” and claimed it severely degraded Iran’s nuclear capabilities. • Some right-wing figures like Tucker Carlson spent last week accusing Fox News of being “warmongers” for the network’s vocal support of U.S. military action against Iran. War Room host Steve Bannon alleged Fox News personalities were pushing for the U.S. military “to go on offense,” while white nationalist streamer Nick Fuentes suggested Fox host Greg Gutfeld has “amnesia” for arguing “we need to forget” the legacy of Middle East wars. • On his Truth Social platform, Trump announced on June 23 that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire, calling it “complete and total.” However, both sides reportedly violated the terms of the ceasefire within hours of Trump’s social media post, with Iran launching missiles into Israel and Israel striking an Iranian radar site in Tehran.
