Fox News' Christine O'Donnell problem gets even worse

Man, now she's just rubbing it in Chris Wallace's face.

O'Donnell, the Delaware Tea Party favorite, showed up on Hannity last night (again!), where she was treated to a predicable course of softball entries. This, of course, just two days after O'Donnell stood up Wallace and withdrew her prior commitment to appear on Fox News Sunday, thereby robbing Wallace the chance to post some decent ratings.

It's one thing to stiff CBS's Bob Schieffer, which O'Donnell also did on Sunday by pulling out of her planned appearance on Face The Nation. But Wallace? He's on the home team for crying out loud.

So for those keeping score at home on this comical charade being played out in Rupert Murdoch's channel, O'Donnell is following Fox News employee Sarah Palin's advice and speaking to voters “through Fox News.” But O'Donnell, whose candidacy is being sponsored by Fox News, is being careful to only appear on certain kinds of Fox News programs while speaking through Fox News. As of right now, her Fox News menu includes Fox & Friends and Hannity. But Fox News selections such as Fox News Sunday and The O'Reilly Factor remain out of bounds.

Yes, Fox News remains fully committed to O'Donnell's campaign even though she has now made it clear she won't appear on any Fox News program that (might!) ask her uncomfortable questions.

What an embarrassment. And what a mess.
