On January 3, Fox & Friends guest retired Brig. Gen. Anthony Tata expressed offense that Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) had called America’s targeted killing of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani an “assassination.” As co-host Brian Kilmeade agreed, Tata said it’s “insanity” to call the killing an assassination. Tata then accused Murphy of “jumping on the side of Iran” and complained that “Democrats will support, you know, Hamas, or Hezbollah, or Iran” over America and President Donald Trump.
Later in the show, Fox News reporter Trey Yingst also called the killing of Soleimani an “assassination.”
Fox News has also published an op-ed by Christian Whiton accusing Democrats, including Murphy, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and former Vice President Joseph Biden of “singing from Tehran’s song sheet.” Whiton is a frequent Fox guest and former adviser to the Trump and George W. Bush administrations.
