After bashing Obama for deficits for years, Rush Limbaugh now says budget deficits never mattered

Limbaugh: “Nobody is a fiscal conservative anymore. All this talk about concern for the deficit and the budget has been bogus”

Rush Limbaugh spent many of years of President Barack Obama's administration attacking the president for deficits. Now that deficits are rising under President Donald Trump, Limbaugh has suddenly admitted that it was a sham all along.

From the July 16 edition of Premiere Radio Networks' The Rush Limbaugh Show:

CALLER: Republicans can nominate a young, potentially two-term president, one that believes in fiscal conservatism. We’re gonna have-- In 2019, there’s gonna be a $1 trillion dollar deficit. Trump doesn’t really care about that. He’s not really a fiscal conservative. We don't, we have to acknowledge that Trump has been cruelly used.

RUSH LIMBAUGH (HOST): Nobody is a fiscal conservative anymore. All this talk about concern for the deficit and the budget has been bogus for as long as it’s been around.

Also:

In 2009, Limbaugh claimed that Obama is a “coward” without the “spine” or “gonads” to admit he is responsible for the federal deficit. In 2011, Limbaugh called Obama “the architect of deficits and debt unheard of in this nation.” A perusal of Limbaugh's website reveals the depths of Limbaugh's hypocrisy:

There is a certain serendipity to Limbaugh admitting that this was all a sham the same week that Trump is under fire for racist remarks; after all, this faux concern for the deficit grew out of the tea party -- which always used it as a cover for the seething bigoted revanchism that was really driving the right all along. At least now, the mask is dropped.
